Interesting story

This happened yesterday.
We bumped into Tony Manzella. Italian guy. Owns big restaurant.
Got talking about food of course. He was very interested in hearing about our garden and home made sauce.
Tony is almost 80.
He asked us about Basil. He insists Basil, NOT OREGANO....NOOOOOO!
Told him we grew our own Basil. Old man hi fived me!
Then he asked, "how you going to store it?".
We went I dunno, dry it?
He said to pick the leaves, dry them, then freeze in a baggie.
Fresh basil ANYTIME!

Then Mr. Manzella started ranting about how young people are afraid to try new things because they might fail and be ridiculed.

My advice for you younger guys...dont be afraid to fail. You tried something everyone else didnt.
If they make fun of you...fuck them.
You have to break eggs to make an omelet. Failure teaches you lessons that can not be purchased.
I will gwt off TKs podium now. :tk:

Italian or not, I disagree. Basil is good, but you must have oregano.

Kansas Oregano?
I dont think you understand...Tony and his entire family are Italian chefs.
Ever go to their restaurant? I dare you to tell him what you just said and...I WANT TO WATCH.
Be something like this I bet.

Tony told us about a girl he hired. She decided she wanted to make her own pizza. Had watched Tony do it many times.
She covered it in basil...Tony warned her. She insisted she loves basil.
Tony was telling her, "just a tiny bit".
She couldnt eat the pie...he said.
Hes a funny guy. Wish he hunted ducks.

I dont care either. If Tony tells me to use cottage cheese on pizza..instead, I would just try it.
I used to insist on oregano as well.
Tried Tony's way and never went back.
Have you tried it with no oregano and basil instead? If not, I suggest you do.
Try a little basil on pizza.
Very subtle but is an improvement....orrr just layer it in oregano.
No fucks to give either way.

Being Italian doesn't make you a good cook or know what sauce is supposed to taste like. Lived in Italy for years. Majority of their diet is seafood cooked very plain but fresh. Same with their pasta. You get a side dish of pasta there and you are either getting olive oil and a hint of garlic or basically crushed tomatoes with bay oregano and basil. No other ingridients. That shit we have here was specifically meant for fat ass Americans.

Ever ask the chinese at the local chinese restraunt how he makes his authentic General Tsos chicken? You know that recipe is straight from the streets of the PRC right?

General Tso was Taiwanese. So in mainland China they just call it The People's Chicken.

Honestly, when I typed that, I was hoping you would chime in with the origin of Tso himself. Maybe you are just waiting to get to a keyboard.

Or the Old America. Depends on your point of view, I suppose.

Somehow I bet that AT goes into Mexican restaurants and tells them they're doing it all wrong and refuses to pay.
