Sooo glad I quit buying season tickets.
For a very long time The Fighting Illini played Michigan every other year on or around Oct. 20 (Saturday in late October).
I look forward to this game because it's always been a huge rivalry. Michigan wins a lot but it's still "The Big Game" here. Plus the weather is always PERFECT that weekend. When we win, it's epic. We got Michigan State this year on that weekend..
What a drag.

I cannot argue that in basketball, hockey ect..but when it comes to football thats a fact. I don't understand why people try and fight it. Take the emotion out, and look at it logically. No one wins for championships, no one puts more in the NFL....

Championships don't mean a fucking thing. Look up who won the 1926 college football championship and argue which team actually won. There are several teams claiming they won.
The meaning is only meaningful when dollars are attached. Take the money away and who cares who won the 1984 Rose Bowl? (Illinois lost) By the way...that team is the only team to ever defeat all NINE of the other Big Ten teams. Missouri beat them in the season opener. Then they lost to some fucking gay ass cheating team from California. Their coach got kicked out of the NCAA and got famous in the pros.

It was a pretty long time ago..... Since the beginning of the polls (1936 I think) the SEC has been a pretty big factor/deal)

They had football for quite a few years before the formation of the Southeastern Conference in 1932.
