I'm assuming when it has a hole in the side like this, it's toast? Can you get new collars for around the teeth part? Motor works fine.

Even I'm not that cheap. Although, in that case, I'd take it out and just put a drain in, Throw your garbage in the trash, you lazy bastard! Save money on the disposal and the electricity all at once. Or get some chickens. They love table scraps as much as pigs.

None of that is gonna happen.
Spend some $$$ and make the problem go away.

Can't say I didn't try. In addition to being expensive and noisy and stinky, they are very bad, even if you don't have a septic system. Causes the wastewater treatment plants to work twice as hard, and really isn't necessary- how much effort does it take to scrape a plate into the trash instead of the kitchen sink?

Why do you think it's corroded now Eric? I "fixed it" a few times before that way.
I can find replacements online for about 85, or I could just put drain piping in. I never had a disposal growing up, and we got along just fine.

You honestly think it would be hard for me to convince the lady to get chickens? You sleep typing or something?

my grandparents never had one. Nanny (grandma) used to call em "those pigs under the sink." All her scraps fed her dogs
I grew up without one too. After the wife and I bought our first house it was over year or so before I quit scraping the scraps into the trash can.

You're not the only one. The new house has one though.

My garbage disposer is very low tech. It is outside and is called a compost heap. Its green and uses zero energy.
I turn my piles with a pitchfork so there isnt garbage attracting animals.

I want chickens too. Chicken shit is great fertilizer.
