Not really cheap-assa

Postby jehler » Sat Jul 13, 2013 6:40 am

I haven't had a cigarette in a few years and even though I don't really care for them much I've had a hankering lately. I stopped by the local smoke shop and looked for the smokes assa had in a pic a few weeks back....$7.50!!!

I almost cussed the girl out, I bit my tongue and walked out the door, holy hell, that would buy a damn decent cigar!

Thats cheap as hell. A pack of marbs is 9.50 here. I havent had a cig since last friday. Went out frogging with friends in tepid waist deep water and smoked a pack and drank a box of suds while gigging and felt like shit for 2 days. Hate cigs. Dont have the ehler wisdom of moderation.

This guy called the cops on himself. Probably a 8K mistake. I cant imagine waking up in a jail cell thinking about what I have done after that. How much is an average DWI, about 8K right? http://buffalo.ynn.com/content/top_stor ... -to-drive/

I believe he spends a little extra on organic cigs cuz they are actually good for you that way, kinda like pot.

They're $7.20 here.

Beef, if you smoke too much when you drink, you really should try the injun smokes. There's no "cigarette hangover" whatsoever.

And they burn twice as long, so they're actually cheaper. If you're a menthol guy, their natural menthols are pretty tasty.

I don't always smoke, but when I do, I prefer American spirit yellows.

Over 2 years cigarette free. The cost was the only reason I quit but the side effects have been worth far more than the savings.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

Jehler got me to thinking about my entire cigarette consumption over the last 50 years...

Let's see, best as I can figure, about 5 cigarettes in the last 50 years.

They were all in 1977. Never liked them much.

As much as AT hates paying taxes, it surprises me he spreads his butt cheeks so willingly for Uncle Sam. Bitches about the rain tax, but takes it prison style with tobacco taxes...you are a complex man Jim.

My uncle and my dad both smoked for over 50 years.
They have both quit, and only need oxygen on a part time basis now.

If it wasn't for smoking, I would most likely be in prison. And as far as the tax goes, I'm ok with, because it is paid at my discretion. That's always been my beef with taxes. Not that they exist, but how they are taken. Nobody is taking the cigarette tax automatically out of my paycheck or wallet, the cigarette tax is assessed based directly on my actions (buying smokes), and not assessed via an act of nature (the rain tax). I'm all about individual choices, especially when it comes to taxes. You want to see how much good your spending is doing, make contributions voluntary. Like my cigarette tax.

Good answer. By this logic, you are in favor of toll roads?

Yep. Matter of fact, I'm for a national sales tax on everything as opposed to an income tax. I bitch about those taxes mostly because of the double taxation issue which is incurred by taxing my money when I earn it, and taxing it again when I spend it. That's bullshit.

If Assa doesn't have a PhD in Econ, he certainly did a good job of getting to the heart of tax policy on his own. Best taxes are those borne directly by beneficiaries of activity dunned. Ammo tax is good, so long as the HOGs in DC use the money for conservation, maintenance and acquisition of resources for those who use the outdoors. Same with gas tax, toll roads, airline tax etc.
D o have to disagree about National Sales Tax, IMO it just feeds the beast. Unless coupled with amendment to forever eliminate an income tax, the HOGs will just demand both. (see Europe)
Ultimately, we need to prune the federal government. Its a mafia outfit. Take taxes from everyone, grab their "commission" and send back to states as "aid". No wonder every dip@#$% and incompetent wants to be a politician. (New Jersey resident, I know these things  !

Just to be clear, I'm for abolishing the income tax in favor of a national sales tax.

Is the income tax unconstitutional?

Since the amendment was properly ratified, I would have to say no. But it is certainly un-American.
