I ran across this one today. It shows the direction of sun for any location, date, and time.
Sunrise and sunset are shown by default. Could be good in picking which bank or point you want to setup on.

This is sweet, thanks tuckie. There are quite a few things like sunrise and sunset, the greater than less than > < in math, etc that I will never be able to learn. Its weird. This is getting saved to my phone.

I've always wondered about the "legal" definition of LST. When my buddy was busted for shooting 3 minutes early, the ticket was based on the published sunrise time in Baltimore, which is 3 hours west of here. He went to court, and it was upheld. (although he was "only" placed on 2 years' probation, and had to pay close to $450 in fines and court costs.) I often wonder if an app like this would help, but with these thuggish asshat wardens we have here, it's best to just go with the published time if you're hunting a public area. And to know what time the game warden's watch says.

The game wardens here are decent if you are decent to them. I hunt with one of them. Hes a great source of info on local conditions.

The Oregon regulations for birds states the exact time for the zone you are in. It is the "law". Washington has the same, as does Idaho and Wyoming. I just thought all states had a definition within their regs, I guess not.
Here, take a look, this is what I'm talking about:

Not here. The problem is that the time tables in the regs state "based off of sunrise/sunset times at Baltimore, MD". And more than a few game wardens take that literally. My buddy is only one of the few people I know who received fines for this.

And TK, not here. I'm not saying shit to a game warden, and if his feelings are hurt, so be it.

We have season zones N-S, and Lst zones running E-W, starting with LST and adding 6minutes for each successive zone.

Gosh, I would really not do well in the Commonwealth.
No wonder you are so jumpy all the time.

Pretty sure it's a law in Michigan that on opening day it's legal to start shooting before lst as long as someone else on the marsh shoots first

Yeah, there you go. Only the first shooter can get in trouble

In NC, our sunrise/sunset times are based off one city. Then there is a chart that gives the minutes you add or subtract based on the county you are hunting in.

Same thing here in VA. I always use an app on my phone that gives the exact sunrise and sunset for where I am, based on GPS.
They can ticket me if they want, but it's my feeling that they can't write their own false science and then use that against me.

Which app do u use? We have to have sunset where we are at that time and KS is a long state, east to west speaking.

Yeah, my phone is a GPS as well. There's even a setting in Google maps that allow me to download maps for offline use (no cell signal).

Where do you live in Va? I grew up in Suffolk.

Doesn't it say somewhere in the rules to not rely on a GPS or other electronic device to determine sunrise/sunset, but to only use the table in regulations book? I could be wrong about that, but it seems I read it somewhere in there. I usually carry a copy of the sunrise/sunset chart in my blind bag just to be safe.

It may, I'm not sure.

It is the damnedest thing. Every year, birds flying around can see them everywhere. One shot rings out in the distance...
The skies light up with gun fire regardless of time.
