Had this goober hanging around my work area in the shop. Now I'll have to watching for his parents, brothers, sisters etc. And no more flips on the feet in there.

I cant really tell what that is. I am have narrowed it down to either a worm, a snake, or caulk. Which is it?

No different venom. Cotton mouth is not as severe of a hit compared to Cooper head

Cotton mouths are straight dick heads.

Cotton mouth, copperhead, an array of rattlesnakes and the occasional coral snake. Texas' terrain vastly varies as you know and the type of snake you may encounter is extremely unpredictable.

Honestly don't know when it comes to dogs. I imagine that dogs get bitten by copperheads more given how common they are so there may be more dog deaths related to copperhead bites. I hate cotton mouths, had one chase me in a creek once, I whacked the sucker with a fishing pole to put an end to it.

Always let your guide inspect blinds and pits for snakes. ALWAYS.
I like to let an eager beaver get one foot down into a pit. Then I say, "you arent afraid of snakes, are ya?".
The look on a guys face when he goes UH OH is fun to see.

I've actually stepped over several copperheads in my life without a problem. I didn't realize they were there until mid step though or I wouldn't have done it. A cotton mouth, on the other hand, will usually get into a strike position long before you get close to them. I've had them strike at my 4 wheeler numerous times, one of which actually made contact with the floorboard directly under my foot. He received a double dose of my 22 rat shot.

We have a body of water on our property known as cottonmouth brake. It was given this name by my great grandmother over a hundred years ago due to them seeing large amounts of moccasins laying on logs in this brake basking in the sun everytime they rode through there. If I don't kill a moccasin everytime I ride by there, its because its either too cold or I'm not looking. There are times we've killed as many as 7 out of the same mud hole within seconds of each other.
