Tipping

Ok who else here doesn't tip for somebody doing their job? Tipping has become stupid. People expect a tip for doing their job. I will tip my bartender, my barber and my waiter/waitress at the restaurant but other than that, probably not going to happen. Didn't realize I was supposed to tip someone at a take out place for handing me my food. What a joke.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/food-truc ... 13345.htmlShout out to the good people of Glass, Lewis & Co. for placing a $170 order and not leaving a tip. @glasslewis

http://www.totalprosports.com/2013/07/3 ... t-picture/Yup, that’s a receipt from a $74.41 bill that Brees racked up at Del Mar Rendezvous in Del Mar, California, recently. For those of you who aren’t all that good at math (and don’t own a calculator), $3.00 on a $74.41 bill works out to be a 4% tip, which means Drew Brees isn’t cheap. He’s very cheap.

You tip if someone does something for you. You were to lazy to walk your ass into the restaurant to get food, pay the person bringing it to your car. Maybe not 20%, but something.

I always tip someone doing a service job at minimum or near minimum wage. I have been there and its hard to get by let alone deal with peoples shitty attitudes. They deserve a little extra. Never know how much someone may be struggling till you walk a day in there shoes. I will see though that for some things it should not be expected and that makes me even happier to do it. Posting someones receipt online though because you feel you deserved more I don't agree with with don't how this servers attitude was.

I don't tip for someone standing there doing their job, like coffee shop workers, hostesses handing me a take out order at the counter, or the woman I give my money to at Panera. Sorry, but that's just stupid. You get paid for doing your job- you don't get paid extra for doing your job. Maybe next time I'll get them to sing me a quick little song, or dance a jig if they want a tip for handing me my $4 cup of coffee. Fuck that. What if I put out a tip jar on the jobsite when I was a carpenter, for the homeowners to drop a couple bucks in? That'd be retarded.

x2. I hate that a take out receipt even prints out a tip line. First thing I do is draw a big X through it.

A tip is meant to be a reward for good service. It should not be expected. If it gets automatically added to a bill I won't pay it, its supposed to be for me to decide how pleased I was with the services recieved.
I go and spend 8 hours installing a furnace in someone's house maybe I should tack 15% on the $2800 bill for gratuity.

In almost 13 years I could count on one hand the number of times I've been tipped with cash, which is fine - I don't expect it. I'm just happy if they don't stiff me on the whole bill. I have had several very nice people offer a beer or Gatorade, Christmas cookies if its that time of year, even had an elderly couple offer me a piece of their birthday cake.

I've got a tip for ya - plant your corn early next year.
In all seriousness you're probably just happy not hearing "FUCK YOU!" as you walk away.

I just gave the AC guy a $50.00 tip and a 24 ounce coors light last week for coming out ASAP.

i tip fairly well for good service. if the service sucks, they get a dollar. if i am picking up something, no tip. if something is getting installed, it will depend on the person. if they are happy to let me know how they do X or if something should happen do X, i will tip them (either way i offer them a water, beer, coffee depending on time of year and temp).
all in all, if they are good and willing to help me out, i will compensate them. if they dont give a shit, i make it known how i feel about it.

Damn! The best I've gotten so far is a 20 dollar bill each to my brother and I.

Booo! I agree with huntall. That thing should be worn every day that it's cold enough to do so. Can't imagine that 100x would breathe at all.
