My dog starts pestering me early. He's used to a morning play time.
Still dark and he's pushing.
He just tried kicking me off the couch.
Do you have a schedule and the dog knows it?
He's ready a half hour early.

Ahahaha...
Email notification says there's a new topic. It'll take years for it to go away.
Guy is asking about "hiding the shiny bolt on his shotgun".

Went to buy some meat to bbq.
They're baaa ack.
Them damn "consider wearing a face diaper" signs.
I thought about it....
Nah.
A diaper would work better at monkeypox prevention.

The wife and I went out to the local public trap range last night. She really wants to get a duck, but she's really slow coming up out of the blind. So at first we worked on her technique for mounting and shooting to try and get her to be quicker. Nobody else was there so I walked out in the field to get some used clays to set on the ground for her to shoot.

I thought the area without any grass was just shot up or something. Never realized what it actually was. :o

Do you want some used wads?

PXL_20220809_232048086.jpg

I love to see how determined she is to get a duck. Normally she just shoots the .410, but she only shot my new 12 gauge because that's what she'll be using for duck hunting. She even told me to move the thrower to do some crossing shots because "that's what the ducks will be doing." I guess we know who will be using the old shotgun when we are out

Let's hope we actually get some ducks for her to shoot at this year. Ideally sitting on the water unaware of us ;)

She just might surprise you Spinner!
Mine begged me to get her a bait caster reel for bass fishing right after we started dating, so I relented, knowing full well my next few trips were gonna be untangling bird nests. Didn't take her long, and damn if she didn't pick it right up, and start throwing it like a pro. Your bride might surprise you this year, seems she has the "want"

The last couple years, we just haven't had crap for ducks. I'm hoping we can get some really dumb ones to cooperate and get her a duck and build her confidence.

She is 4 for 4 on geese. I want to get some ducks as dumb as those geese. Those were the ones for a newby  That was what really turned her from just tagging along on occasion to watch to wanting to actually go along to hunt once in awhile.

We've had a few woodies zip through when she's been along, but seen too late and in and out of gun range way too quick for her. I don't want her to get discourage by the woodies that you have zero time to react that experienced hunters are rarely quick enough to shoot at, let alone actually hit.

To get them dumb ducks you have to sit in the blind every day. Here there's a week in November usually the second week....you call and they turn and decoy you feel like a rock star then it's over just like that and you're an idiot on a kazoo again.
Good luck on being there that day. It happens that quick.

I'm glad you all down in LA are off the hook for Ian. However, I think there is a good chance my wife and I might not have a place to stay come this winter.

That little X west of Tampa is where we stay in a ground floor condo.

IAN.jpg

They are forecasting storm surges that could exceed 10'.

That's the view from my desk when I'm working down there. Can't beat that for a work environment.

That's the view from the bay.
PXL_20220224_165616801.jpg

That ain't 10' from low tide to the floor of the condo. :o :o :o

We rent. I'm not worried about the structure, but I think all the furniture, appliances, etc. are going to be taking a bath. If they do, I don't see it being ready for us to move in by late December. Prayers to all the people that are likely to lose a lot more than just a place to stay for the winter. This could be devastating.

A lot of folks that we know are year round residents. That is their home. The people we are closest to are in NC right now. I'm sure all the rest are off the island. It's just a question of what will they have to come home to and when will they be able to get back to it. They are pretty well prepared for these things, but there's only so much you can do with a 10' wall of water. They'll survive the wind just fine, but the big question is whether or not the ocean will be in their living room.

Currently it looks to be shifting a little further south which gives us a little better chance, but there is no good place in that part of Florida for a big hurricane to hit. Praying for a whole lot of wind shear between now and tomorrow night.

I can't imagine what it's going to look like down around Punta Gorda, but the webcams are still up and running near where we stay. Winds blowing pretty good but the ocean looks like it has stayed where it is supposed to be. That's all a good sign for us and our neighbors down there  I know a lot of people will not fair so well. Hope they all got out safely.

Since this IS the bs thread why not do some bs'ing?
Hey spinner...
Suppose just suppose the storm is over, your place is cleaned up and back to normal...you migrate...
Snowbirds do that.
Then in march or April you go back to Obama-land and I'm squatting in your summer home.
What level of force will you use to evict me?
Your choice and 5-0 won't help.
Just kidding.

I guess the alarm system we have to keep people out when we are away won't do much good anymore with Illinois's catch and release approach to law enforcement. You can keep going back until you wear the batteries out.

Since its my choice I'll be skipping straight to "deadly force". No hesitation or remorse.
I thought about lights n cameras but it'd just collect evidence ro be used against me in court.

You live in the world of drug addicts. I live in the world of dumbass teenagers. I'm not going to risk my wife or my life, but I would like to get through life without shooting someone especially a dumbass teenager from down the block.

Human tragedy needs to be dramatized excessively for political reasons.

1 create monster
2 tax citizens to kill the monster
3 transform the monster into some other monster
4 repeat. (Add drama)

Not here. Frosty yes.
Somehow it frosted with a 34 degree low.
Methinks they redesigned the system of weather data collection to support some agenda or something.

Thankfully no wind. I don't think we got any frost here.

A calm day it can be 32 at ground level and at the height of the temperature measurement a couple degrees warmer. That whole cold air sinks thing. I have seen that happen too
