Tonight's. Gonna make some tomato/jalapeño/cilantro/onion pico to go with the fried catfish.

You got any recipes for pico that don't include those nasty tomatoes?
I hate tomatoes and beets. They seem to be the only two foods I've came across that I just can't stomach. Tomatoes seem to be that thing that even if you ask to hold them, they always get put on. Then I have to drag that slimy thing off and get all the seeds off..yuck.

I've had it made with yellow and red bell peppers in place of the tomatoes. I think it had lemon juice and salt as well, but was pretty good. Not my favorite, since I love tomatoes.

I've had it made with some kind of fruit in place of the tomato, maybe mango, and it was really good. Never got the recipe though.

I'm right there with ya Eric. I don't mind tomatoes cooked, say in spaghetti or diced up in, say salsa. But raw, cold, slimy tomatoes on a nice hot burger gag me

Haha, your probably the first person who has ever felt the way I do about them. I can eat salsa, but not pico. The tomatoes are raw in it and it gags me. If I order a burger minus tomatoes and they put tomatoes on it, I always ask for a new top half of the bun. That slimy "stuff" soaks all into the bun and ruins it for me.

Pico de gallo. Basically diced tomatoes, diced onions, cilantro, diced jalapeños, and salt. Maybe a little line juice. It's not puréed at all like salsa is.

Not cooked, either.

Was just about to say the same.
Pico is the same as salso, but the consistency isn't.
I consider pico de gallo as a "raw salsa". I know salsa isn't usually cooked either, but it has that pickled, soft consistency. Pico is just snappy, and crunchy.
Pico always taste "fresher" to me though.

I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes by themselves either. The only time I put a tomato on a sandwich is on a blt. With crispy bacon and miracle whip.

Seriously?
I'd divorce my wife if she ever brought a jar of Miracle Whip home.

I like to drizzle cider vinegar on the slices, then salt and pepper. Delicious.
If you notice, I completely ignored the first part of your statement.

That sounds good on the maters. I like chewy bacon also, but not on a BLT.
