College 4 yrs
Med school 4 yrs
Residency anywhere between 3-8yrs
Then if you want fellowship usually 2 years
I have 8 yrs left before "attending status" not counting this year.
But if you want to do something like family medicine/ER/internal medicine it's only 3 yrs of residency then you're an attending.
