I really screwed up

Postby rozzo842 » Sat Oct 05, 2013 7:53 am

I just realised I planned a family camping trip to the adk's for some fall foliage viewing on the same weekend as the season opener. I was really looking forward to this trip, now not so much. My wife is pissed now since I tried to cancel the trip and is now throwing it in my face every chance she gets. How can I get out of this trip and still stay married? Any advice?

Take them hunting for the trip but don't tell them until you get there. But sounds like your looking at leaves on the opener and listening to everyone r else shoot.

I quit hunting openers a few years ago.

I got tired of jacklegs that only hunt one weekend a year screwing with everyone as ruining the hunting.

So, I let all the d-bags have the opener, and I'll spend another weekend with my family and the serious killing will start in a couple weeks.

Plus there's no divers or sea ducks to make a hunt yet anyway.

The opener is overrated. Do what you promised your family you'd do. Don't even think about hunting, just enjoyable weekend.

x2 As bad as I want to go I tell myself I'm gonna skip the opener because of the D-bags in the marsh but my kids are waiting to go as well so I suck it up and go. Just hang out with the family they come first anyways.

X2 Hunting on the opener blows. I rarely ever hunt a weekend day as it is.
Family first, especially with kids. One day you're changing diapers and the next they are in college or off to boot camp. The time flies.

Opener is awesome! Birds are dumb and just fly into the boat!

But let the wife know you want to hi hunting, but they come first. Ought to be worth a couple points

I hunt the opener cause after waiting all year, I couldn't stand to wait another few days. Plus on the opener i'm fortunate enough to hunt a couple private ponds with no assholes, other than my own buddies, to deal with.

Sorry bro you screwed the pooch. You might be able to get out of it, but it'll cost you a shopping spree for momma and the kids

Yeah hunting the opener really blows. It wouldn't be bad if it weren't for the other assholes in the marsh. ;)

Yeah, I'm going. I'm sure it will be fun, just that I haven't been waiting and preparing, and scouting for a year to see leaves, ducks on the other hand......
Not many duck hunters around me, I saw one group in the early season and met one guy towards the end of the season last year. I had a plan to hunt with him opening day but looks like that plan is changing.
I'll have fun with the family also, I'm just gonna have to get ducks off my mind.

On the other hand, marriage is overrated and just think how much hunting you could do without a wife. Your wife isn't very understanding if she expects you to miss the opening day of duck season....You might consider sending your wife to counseling and perhaps therapy.

Bring some of that foliage home and stick it in the mud around your duck blind and the wood ducks will flock to it. Post some pictures for us, will you?
