Ya I don't really care for them either, but I drove down the road and let it go in the field, didn't want my lab to get bit.It was a mean little sucker. But it calmed down after a few thumps in the head.

You didn't hit it hard enough if you were able to let it go.

Negative. Snakes are not poisonous...

A coral snake is, however, venomous. I think that the red and yellow bands touching is the indicator. There are other snakes with the same colors, but a different pattern that are not venomous.

Yes this coral snake is one of the most deadliest snakes we have in florida, but they don't have fangs like some of the other venomous snakes here,if i'm not mistakin. It takes some work for them to break your skin, if bitten.I didn't like him in there with my decoys though, they were scared i bet.

They have fangs just really short ones. They are also the most venomous snake in the south east.

When I was a kid I trapped a Coral snake and kept it all day long playing with it. My mom found it and of course freaked out.

Sure it wasn't a king? Corals have a bad temper, I wouldn't pick one of them, or a moccasin up.

"Red on black friendly jack. Red on yellow kill a fellow."

Even a 10 year old kid knows the difference.

I think in all of N America. They posses neurotoxin as opposed to the hemotoxin in copperheads, rattlers etc. Neurotoxins are the type cobras and mambas produce.

That coral snake is about as deadly as you will find in the US.

I was taught "Red against black, poison does lack. Red against yellow, will kill a fellow." Have only seen them in Florida, and they were quite tame acting. Also understand their fangs are so back, they'd pretty much have to chew on you to inject venom, but I've no experience with that.
