That was a good sign. Stupid people in Austin, quick to get offended.

from the way the article reads, it sounds like just the one woman complained about it.

Yea that's what I got too. Other than she posted it on FB or something and all her other sensitive Internet friends got upset too.

Quite a few signs like that pop up around town. Suprised it was that big of a deal it seems to be the "norm" of the weirdness.

I think it's supposed to be like Woodys milk comment. They like domestic beer and that lady went ballistic because she took it literally as they like domestic violence.

Sounds like she is a super sensitive fima-nazi commie-pinko, bunny loving, tree hugger. I say screw her.

The first sign might not have been in the best of taste but WTF?

Next thing you know, people will be protesting against incest..........Vice is nice but incest is best: The indoor sport the whole family can enjoy.

You guys do realize that this is offensive to well over half of the population based on their gender, alone, right? Then lots more above that majority of the populace due to empathy, or perhaps a direct relationship to a victim of the punchline. Whether it makes me chuckle for a second or not, it's in poor taste and shows extremely poor judgement. What if your sister were a victim of domestic violence, living in shame and fear for herself and her children? Still funny?

Maybe this this kind of joke is worth a chuckle in the blind, or on the job site, between guys who get and appreciate each other's off-color humor. But putting it on a public sign representing a business is just plain stupid.

Context. It matters.

women can be just as violent towards men, so labeling it as only men being abusive assholes is total fucking bullshit. if my sister had been a victim of an asshole abusing her, i would have taken care of it and still fucking laughed at the sign. it's funny.

poor taste as a business, maybe. but i don't think the guy should be fired for it.

I agree with banknote 100%.

I also don't think we can judge if the guy should, or should not have been fired.

What does the company policy say? Most businesses have something in place allowing them to get rid of employees that make them look bad. I imagine that most policies are a catchall, and helps the company save some face in instances like this.

Without knowing if they had a policy to cover them in place, it isn't our place to decide the employee's fate...
