If you've got the time to make, or the money to buy, a fish house makes it about 10x more comfortable.

Find the deep edge of shallow weed lines, or if the water is really clear so the weed line is 15ft or more the shallow edge, inside corner in bays, if there is a river that comes into the lake and the ice is thick enough hang over the top edge of the channel a little.

That's what I do at least.

Ice fishing? What's that?

links? i don't want to drop a ton of cash, but i don't want to free nuts in a wind/snow blizzard. i'm willing to tie a rope to the thing to take it on the lake, since i won't drive my truck on the ice.

If I ever moved back to da UP. I would get a portable, the shack was nice and comfortable but it was to much of a bitch to deal with.

if your not ready to drop coin don't even bother, it's fucked like duck hunting, just get your self an ice armour or frabil suit and find a buddy with a shack and equipment

I fully expect I will need an extension for the first time in my life this winter. Was always damn close in da UP but could always break through about the time the powerhead was touching the ice.

Looks like it. We had a training session scheduled for 2 weeks from now get postponed. I am hearing maybe January for it. Definitely gonna bring the ice gear and slay the kokanee on the regulating reservoir if I get the chance. I am the fucking king of that place!

Just go buy a $40 tent from Kmart and cut the floor out of that bitch. You'll have a nice big roomy fish house.

So just anchor it however those $350 "ice fishing" tents that they sell are anchored. Can't be that hard.

Assa would use a bed sheet (from the goodwill), wire coat hangers, a bungee cord and some duct tape if he were to go... but he won't go because its cold out there.

I've been ice fishing, but it was in some small house that was towed out on the lake by a tractor in the winter, and pulled back off in the spring where it served as a summer cottage. Fucker had a loft and a full kitchen in it. Ridiculous. Other than that, it was just driving around on the lakes, waiting to fall through and die. Eff that noise.
