I'm an idiot! Lost shotgun.

I was hunting Turtle Valley in Walworth County this morning, parked off Island Rd. I leaned by Benelli Super Vinci against the passenger side of the truck as I loaded the rest of my gear. And then drove off without it. Obviously it was not there when I went back after realizing I had forgot it. I don't deserve it but I'm hoping some kind soul found it and is willing to return it.

Holy hell, that sucks. That is one benefit to the crazy laws we have here- leaning a loading gun up against a tire constitutes having a loaded gun in the vehicle, so I'm extra careful when I do it, and make sure to take it off the tire quickly, before anybody sees it.

This reminds me of a story a friend has where he left his rifle leaning against a tree on public land. When he went to look for it, it of course was no where to be found. He said that 3 seasons later he was scouting for deer and stopped to pee on a tree, looked down and saw his rifle that had been leaning there for 3 years.

Second time I have heard of this happening. First time was in the mid 70's in Butte Co. Ca. when two guys drove off with two Browning A-5's leaning against the side of the truck. Went back an hour later and never saw them again. Really sucks, sorry for your loss.

My friend did something similar the year before last. The person who found it posted on craigslist that they found a gun, and you had to say where it was and what it was if you wanted it. He got it back that next day. There are good people out there, I'm hoping a good person found it for ya.

When I was a kid, my dad found a deer rifle in the middle of a logging road. He put an ad in the classifieds lost and found and, a guy called that was able to convince my dad it was his.
