I need your help

I have an online friend that lives in the Dakotas, I have known him for 10 years. He is not a duck hunter, but he is one hell of a shooter and very avid coyote and deer hunter. This man is a Law enforcement officer and lives in a small town.
He married his high school sweetheart, and they have kids and grandkids together.
I was up that way a few years back and they took me into their home and treated me like family.
So here it is-
"Jim" is 57 years old, and has some health problems. His wife has ALS and is dieing. She is the kinda gal who always went deer hunting with "Jim". He mentioned to me recently he has sold all most all of his guns to pay bills and didn't have a gun left to go deer hunting this year. My cousin offered to loan him a rifle.
I consider myself a christian, I am not a bible thumper or a very regular service attender, but I do have a personal relationship with christ; I am a believer. I feel strongly that God has choosen me to help this good man out. He never complains, he never bitches, and he is always, I mean always, helping out other people. I think its my calling to see to it that "jim" gets some help this time. I hate the idea of a proud, righetous man not being able to buy his grandkids christmas presents, pay his bills, or even go deer hunting. On top of everything else, his wife is at deaths door.
So! I am asking if any one would like to chip in a few bucks to help him out. I am not talking about much, just what ever you are comfortable with. More than anything, I would like to see this man have something positive happen to him from the kindness of strangers to maintain his faith in his fellow man. I am protecting his identity because he is a proud guy that would feel he doesn't want to ask for help; I want to just send him a check and say this is from your hunting brothers.
I raise money for ducks all year long. Its time for me to help my fellow man. I have been blessed in this life, I want to give something back, and I believe this is my path. I appreciate any help you can give.

Damn, what a sad story. If you send me enough money, I will go hunting with him.
On a serious note, do you have a pay pal account? I think it would be easier to help if we could just put some money in a pay pal account. Other than that, you have not indicated where to send any help.
How much help (money) are you trying to get? If he is a former law enforcement officer does he belong to a benevolent organization? He might be entitled (bad word but you get my meaning) to help but just hasn't asked for it.
Details, we need more details and we don't give a fuck if you are a "Christian" or not, has nothing to do with it.

Peculiar timing with you wanting to build a mud motor...
Just kidding Tk, you are a good man. I'm scrounging what I can to get myself by and still be able to get out myself so I'm sorry to say I have no monetary things to give, but if there is other things he might need, let us know.

I do have a paypal account, you can PM me if you really want to help. My guess is you won't, but I have been wrong before. I am not trying to pay off his house, just give him a shot in the arm in any way I can. Let's say $500. He is a current LEO. He is the guy who would take a bullet for your family, save you from a burning car, etc.
As for your last comment, can you at least have enough class to respect my feelings? Is that difficult for you? If you were ever married, can you, for a moment, put your self in someone else's place that is watching their spouse die?
Did you get a special thrill talking down to someone who is trying to do something good? Did it make you feel important?
Someday Ron, you are gonna feel really down in life. You are going to wish you would get a hand up from someone else.
What I am saying is, we are all one second away from some kind of tragedy.
All I want to do it help one of the good guys.

Thanks Gordon. I know what you are saying. That is why I said any little bit will help.
I am spending part of the money I had set aside to build my mud motor, it can wait.

i didnt think Ron was talking down to anybody here. i thought he was only saying you being a "Christian" doesnt matter, that if you were not one he would be as apt to send a little something.

TK sometimes I wonder how you manage to find disrespect and attacks where I see NONE?
Ron is using humor to make it easier to talk about a rough subject. Nothing more, as far as I read it he's ready I send money now but doesn't know where, hence he needs details, and wants to know why he needs to be Christian to give? How in the hell did you find so. Much to be butt hurt about from his post?

Thanks to all those who have stepped up to help.
Many of my DU brothers have stepped forward as well.
Jehler and Eric, I will pray extra for the 2 of you tonight.

John, love ya, but don't judge me till you have been me. Your own judgement day is coming soon.
I am trying to do something good and don't appreciate being cussed at for my beliefs. For the record Ron contacted me to help out.

Subtlety and humility is the Christian way of doing good deeds, not announcing your plans for everyone to see what "you" are doing. In fact, I believe Christians and non-Christians would both agree.
Also publicly chastising and showing sarcastic pity on non-Christians is a bad way of introducing them to Christ

and this right here is why i refuse to associate with churches, congregations and supposed Christians. I see the most unchristian behavior primarily from those who claim to be Christ's followers, it's fucking hypocritical.
TK, i hope your friend does better and finds peace, but I will not be donating, one of the reasons being the way you're treating the people who you're asking to give you money.

I got a bad feeling about this thread. Something is just not right. The power of good deeds, the devil and paypal all stuffed into a hot pocket and chucked into a microwave for 5 minutes is what it feels like to me.

You should've let it sit for a while before biting into it.

Red, I'm sorry if i offended you. I believe in God, but I'm not a church goer, probably never will be either. I don't have a problem with Christians, i have a problem with Christians who "chastise and give sarcastic remarks" as you stated, to others and walk around with the holier than thou attitude that i quite frequently see. The way i see it, those people are not real Christians, they are hypocrites.
i don't know if i'm right or wrong, but TK really pissed me off with his remarks and i meant every word of what i said.
