Great day today!

Postby rozzo842 » Sat Oct 19, 2013 12:39 pm

This morning I went to a spot I had scouted about a month ago. It wound up being the most action packed, in your face, fast paced hunting I've ever done. This was by far the best day of hunting I've ever had.

The spot

It is always better when you land right on the X.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

Closest I've ever been to hunting a timber hole was this beaver pond.

Thanks guys. I actually found this place by accident, I never would have thought there was a place like this in Jersey. I was scouting a small pond when I noticed a couple of the birds I jumped up seemed to be landing a couple hundred yards away. I walked up to see what was going on and found this spot. It was loaded with woodies and they seemed very comfortable there. When I got close they would either fly 30yds and land or just swim away. I checked it out 2-3 more times with the same results.
We set up 2 mojos, a couple decoys and
A quiver butt. I don't think any of it mattered, we could have set up nothing and had the same results. Watching the birds zip through the trees was intense and made for some real fun shooting. Took 18 shots to get 3 birds but they were the most fun 18 shots I ever took.

And that's how you know.
