turns out my recoil tube is cracked on the end that goes into the stockDeadEye_Dan wrote:Redbeard wrote:Can this be fixed by removing the butt pad and tightening that nut?

NO! You cannot just tighten the nut and fix this.
9/10 the recoil tube is also backing out of the receiver. You'll need to remove the butt pad, thread the tube back into the receiver, and then replace the stock and tighten the nut. The "tube" end and the nut end are threaded opposite directions so when you tighten the nut against the stock retainer shim it puts tension on the front of the tube at the receiver and locks the whole thing in place.
HK models use an 11mm socket to remove the nut, post HK models are a 13mm socket.
Make sure you either use a nylock nut or a lock washer when you put it back together.

it is. But the tube on that end is cracked where it's threadedDeadEye_Dan wrote:I'll bet even money the nut is still tight on the "stem" end of the recoil tube.
