Who gets out? Sam and I and whoever's visiting, usually get out every Thanksgiving morning for a hunt. Historically, they're unsuccessful hunts. We usually get out, freeze and sip coffee. But we still do it. My dad will be tagging along this year and I'm hoping to get out after brant

Hunt with buddies all week, nothing new. Then should make it out to the farm this weekend if it's not too wet for a couple hunts with dad and brother.

Every thanksgiving since I started hunting. This year might not work out because of the job.

Too damn busy to get out thurs. church at 9...lunch with my dads side at 1...dinner with my moms side at 6. I'll be out tues, wed, and fri for ducks. Sat and sun for deer.

Everybody usually heads out after lunch with our family. Your on your own in the mornings but we all go together in the evening. That's deer hunting I should add.

I got my doe killin spot baited for Friday night. Deer hunting is about done for me this year...freezer filling time now.

Same here. Usually just me, but the brother in law from AZ will be here tomorrow for a week. He's looking forward to it- never been waterfowling before.

(And by the way, my traditional thanksgiving morning hunt was the infamous "out of gas, late for dinner because I walked back to the launch pulling a boat with a full gas can in it" hunt)

Good plan. I planted a .1 acre corn field last weekend. Put the seed real close together, hopefully it takes before the deer get it all. :-)

How big is the field? Wait till they walk 60 yards from the edge and they will die in the field.
For the record I don't have a problem with anything but a head shot. Neck, shoulder, heart. I don't care. Lung shot just wastes the least amount if meat so that's what I go for.

We used to always duck hunt the morning before the dinner. Now a days, my son lives in Wyoming and I work the night before and the night of.
Won't be hunting another until I change shifts or jobs or, I retire.
Also used to always steelhead fish Christmas eve morning, before my wife's family Christmas.

Dad, bro, and I have done it for years. Last year my BIL joined, will be doing the same this year. In years past, when there were pheasant, dad and I would leave Fri morning for 3 days in western KS, I miss those trips.

Here are the list of our clan's thanksgiving shinanigans over the last few years.

7 years ago, I shot a 9 point buck tracked it awhile, there were bubbles in the blood. So we decide to back out and let it die from the lung shot. After breakfast we head back out, track the deer another 100 yards and find a pool of blood where it had laid down and a set of tire tracks leading away, no blood or deer tracks leading away from the pool of blood. Don't know for sure what happened.

5 years ago we were hunting a beaver pond. Had 5-600 mallards trying to land in our hole. First three shots bring three ducks. 2 are recovered easily, the third requires Titz to cross the beaver damn with his dog jack to aid him in finding the duck. After the recovery was made, Titz tries to cross back over in a hurry misses the beaver damn (8 inches of snow covered it) and he breaks thru the ice... We recover Titz and head home to let him warm up.

3 years ago we sunk the flat bottom 60 yards off shore. (Y'all already know those details)

This year well, lets hope we break the curse.
