Dumbasses

So we went hunting today, got skunked, lost a phone, but that isn't what this thread is about, it is about the dumbasses who hunted next to us. Their calling sucked, it sounded as if they had a live mallard and were squeezing it so hard it made noise. They sky busted and what not, but that's not where it gets good. The dumbasses were saved by their inability to shoot straight when a group of 20 curlews flew over, and they opened up. This was at a refuge too, so the idiots probably would have went through the check station, strutting their "prize". One of the stupidest acts I have seen in my whole life.

Oh1 and pheasant hunters ran their mother fucking dog through our spread, and stood about 40 yards from us calling their dog back to them, in turn flaring a flock of ducks.

I have no clue what a curlew is. Is it like a 9-iron?

We have curlew also. I might have eaten a few, when I was younger.

Had some sky busters next to me opening weekend. It seems like there are very few public land hunters that understand what the range of their shotguns are with steel shot. Very frustrating.

No, that's a ham hock, I believe. I'm pretty sure a curlew is the Old English term for an ounce of nails.

The curlew was the shortest of all the shorebirds and was aparently the most delicious. They were shot by the thousands and placed in sacks to be shipped to far off markets. The old time market gunners used to steal each others curlews whenever they had the chance, and this is where the expression of having someone "by the short and curlews" came from. The victim would be left in a tough spot, not being able to provide for their families and what not.

No problem, that's why I am here. I like to share my knowledge and enlighten other people's dull and boring lives. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Bullshit!!!! A curlew is not a thing, it is a point in time.
It is the point in time when all hairlips are required to be off the streets or they will be jailed....that is all.

You are all wrong. The Curlew is a race of bird-like people from the galaxy of Draxix-Major in the Galaga Sector (see below)
