and lawnmower blades, and axes, and machetes, sling blades and kaiser blades, and swords, and sabers, and katanas, and bow staffs, and throwing stars, and grinding wheels so that no other metal can be fashioned into a weapon, then cut down all the forests and burn them so people cant make spears out of the wood. then collect all the rocks in the world and throw them in the bottom of the ocean so they cant be used as weapons.

Why can't the major media spot light stories like this more often.

Or, at least make people go through a background check and answer questions like "do you intend to harm someone if allowed to purchase this knife?"
Maybe a 2 week cooldown period from the time you ask to buy the knife and actually take possession.

But do you really want to deal with all the hassle that would come with it? Seriously, if just by drawing the gun and telling him to lay down the knife, he would follow orders, I'd go that route. Even if its a justifiable shooting you are still going to have a lot of BS to go through. I would rather avoid all the interviews, and time sitting at the police station. Plus the chance of some possible lawsuit saying "he never intended to kill anybody''.
I have no problem ending someones life that is an immediate threat to my family or myself, but if I don't have to shoot and can still get the same (safe) results that's the way I'm going every time.

I've gotten the wait a few times. One time I even tried to call and ask why and they won't tell you. GA has a law that within 10 days if NICS doesn't get back to the dealer they will sell him the gun.

smart move JR. Talk to any cop who's been through a lawsuit even after the shooting was found to be justified and they'll tell you it's about the most stressful thing they've ever dealt with

And to add to that, I bet there are a lot of people out there who talk chit or brag that they want to have the chance to someday "get" to shoot a person in self-defense, but if their "chance" ever came they wouldnt have the sack to do it.

I have no desire whatsoever to shoot anyone "just because", especially in a situation like this. I would very much prefer to have the option of being able to shoot back at someone if the need ever arises, though. That being said, there are three people who would be gone tomorrow if I were ever granted a free pass of some sort. But that's not just random "I wanna shoot somebody" nonsense.

Better not start that ''free pass thread''.
