Taking kids hunting

So today I take the boy and a buddy to one of my old favorite spots. We decided a late start would be nice, just to sleep in. The hunting was dead but that's not the point of the story.
After the hunt we get home right at noon, I start making some lunch and Cody comes back into the house and tells me he can't find his blind bag. He tells me it must've blown out of the boat on the highway coming home. We eat fast and back track to the launch with low expectations. I'm quizzing him about where it was along the way, and about 3/4 of the way there he tells me he thinks he left it at the hunting spot. Go back home, hitch up boat and head back to the launch.
Lucky for him its still sitting right where he left it - on the bank right in front of where we were hunting.
Here's the launch we got to battle twice today:

Sounds like a memorable day.

I can beat that launch too, but I don't want to take your glory again. :-)

Not sure if I missed it or not JR, what was wrong with your motor?

It may have just been a bad plug. I put new plugs and a new fuel filter on it yesterday and it seems to be running fine. It may have also been the fuel filter since I was having to choke it about half way. Less air to match the less fuel?

That's defiantly a mess. The launch I use on occasion for bowfishing is kinda like that. There is some gravel, but with the low water it doesn't get you anywhere where you need to be. Muck is waist deep with no water where I take the boat off the trailer.

What was the trip back to get the blind bag like tripod? If it was us in that situation jr would have gotten an earful the whole damn way, and I probably would have got the truck stuck on purpose just so I could say "wouldn't even be here if someone kept track of their shit" I love opportunities like that to really engrain some school of hard knocks learning

The first trip back just to see if it was along the highway I was getting on him a little tough and I could tell he was about to cry so I eased up. When we got back to the house to hitch the boat I told him to go tell his mother what he'd done and what we were doing. She said he was obviously upset. The second ride back was a quiet one. He promised me he'll keep track of his stuff from now on. Lol
