We have a pretty good size car show every summer too, they make it a 3 day event with cops and robbers, a poker run, a sock hop and a show 'n shine. I didnt even bother going this year.

There are some good looking vehicles there. I am into that stuff though. I will build an old truck one day.

The old trucks are cool. Here they have 2 bug shows at the state fairgrounds. Back to the 50's which brings over 5000 cars in, I think close to 10,000, any kind if car you can think if from stock to hotrod to ratrod and everything else. The other is Car Craft which brings probably 3000 cars, all beefed up.

Enlighten me please as to why someone would enter an early 90's Buick LaSabre, or new model Saturn Sky, or a late 90's ford f250 (all stock)? There were several others I saw entered like newer model mustangs and such. Who cares!

I remember while going to the car shows with my dad as a kid (he was always into the cars of the 60's-70's = his era) asking him "when I am your age, will the car shows be filled with stupid cars like an '88 Ford Taurus, or a '91 Honda Accord?"

I'm sure most car shows have the same rules, here I think the vehicle has to be a "classic". I believe their definition is 25 years old, thats it no other stipulation. I've seen a bunch of junkers there just so they could put a 'for sale' sign on it, hoping with a few thousand people walking by that someone will buy it.

i doubt it, itll still be the same classic cars preserved and restored from the same era.

Maybe 30 years from now you will see a 2012 camero or challenger at the car show of the future.

cars of today are gona be pretty hard to restore with all the electronic crap. too much technology that will definitely be obsolete 30 yrs from now. most of the information and equipment to program the pcms will be long gone.

I'm sure there will be some future 'retro' shops working on them. I would say an old teens ford with a 6 volt system is antiquated too, but you still see them at the car shows.

I know that some people who have hot rods they show will plan for event like this months in advance. Then, if they're like my shop foreman, go out and do something stupid like drop a valve and have to pull the motor and rebuild. Instead of not going they just drive the daily driver or whatever they can so they can still go on the trip. He drove his wife's 08 vette this weekend rather than his 67 camaro

I really like the 1950 ford cop car, I had a 50 ford 2 door sedan as my first car. I kept it for almost 10 years then sold it, I wish I still had that car. I had a lot of fun in that car.
