Boat Races

Postby assateague » Tue Dec 03, 2013 4:22 pm

Betty's talk about the "boat races" prompted me to do some YouTubing.

Holy hell. What is wrong with those guys? How is there not carnage all over the bayou? That shit is madness.

Those fuckers are definitely crazy. How many Jon boats do you think they go through in a season?

They bump and damage happens. The younger DD generation took it to the next level...
AGFC has been issuing tickets too. Other than the danger part it is a highly effective way to see who gets what and is smooth...usually. it's amazing.

I have raced at bayou meto and Rainey brake. At the brake the race is quick. The channel gets too shallow in about 200 yards. Whoever gets the hole shot gets to pick.

I'd like to do it once, just to say I did it. I'm assuming there's a HP limit, also? Because if not, I damn sure would've seen some hillbillies with 120s on those 14 foot jons.

Here's another. Seriously- there should be about 30 jon boats on the bottom.

I think at the bayou it's 25. You ever been in a 1236 Jon boat with a 25 on the back? I haven't...that would be some crazy shit. Zipping through flooded timber at 40mph with boats all around.
I want to do it sooooo bad.

Holy shit, I never want to hunt ducks like that in my life.

Just stupid.

Just wear your lifejacket and have a flare and a fire extinguisher close by so the coast guard approves.

There is absolutely nothing about that situation of which the Coast Guard would approve. Olly would probably get a dishonorable discharge if he even went to watch

Different strokes for different folks. Duck hunting to me is about being a sportsman and not an idiot racing to holes that I know will produce ducks. Also the shear fact that there were easily over 100 dudes in that 2nd video would turn me off from hunting like that.

I thought an Arkansas boat race was a bunch of guys chasing their sister through a swamp trying to fuck her? Looks like I learned something new.

Definitely. Wouldn't call that duck hunting. Just like I don't really call hunting MI WMAs hunting. Just would be fun to do a couple times.

I agree with Rick. It would be more fun and safer with no lights.

Would be even more fun if everyone had to pull their plugs when the horn was fired.

As long as you get moving real quick, that's no problem.

not true with my boat. Plug is on the bottom, and there is no ramp or anything so going fast would just force more water in
