Last night I got a voicemail from my river shuttle guy, Bob. He was rather amused by the spectacle of a swarm of troopers when he arrived at the boat ramp to pick up my rig. Seems someone had seen me walking back to the ramp, which is under a bridge, after parking the truck. Dog at heel, camo, waders, shotgun in hand, and apparently I looked menacing enough that they dialed 911 to report a man under the bridge with a gun! Of course by the time the cops arrived, I was well down river and around the bend, clueless to what was going on. They were sharp enough to deduce that I was just a hunter, which Bob confirmed for them and added that "he knows better'n to shoot any people." I guess they all ended up with a good chuckle, as did I at Bob's voicemail, but the troopers weren't real happy with the 911 caller.
