Which One for 2014 - 2015 for the West

Postby RickC » Thu Jan 23, 2014 3:45 am

As the season ends for everyone I wanted to say thanks for allowing me to throw out one of my wire and canvas decoys as a traveler. I'm hoping that it wasn't too much of a pain. I had my own problems with the ones I built and learned a few things for any future working wire and canvas birds I build. That particular medium isn't hardly used much but I think they can provide a filler for some spreads. Plus I don't want to see the craft fade away.
Just to make sure its not last minute and I can plan my decoys out for this spring and summer build I've pulled some pics of different birds to choose from for next year. That is if a traveler is wanted for next season.
I'll take the results June 1st 2014 and start drawing up a pattern for whatever the forum choose. Oh and this one will be a different medium, cork, wood, or a foamer.

Not going to lie, I thought about trying to carve one for a traveler. I wanted to get it done before showing it and offering it though in case it came out all down duck syndrome looking, lol

RickC, I love that you're already steping up for next year's WCT. Thanks in advance and thanks for taking the time again. Once we get closer to the 2014-2015 season Redbeard will setup a sign up thread just like this past years.

It's truely a pleasure to do it.
Your correct the Pacific Black Duck isn't native to the US, you can hunt it in New Zealand though lol. That place is #1 on my bucket list.
I have not done a Harli yet. But I am drawing a couple up now to send to 2 different shows, one in Strongville Ohio and one to Rhappahannock Virginia. Both are in March. Never have seen one so it'll be interesting.

i've seen one, believe it or not there is a few breeding pairs just outside of Yellowstone. There might be a couple dozen in a 50 mile radius around there. very neat birds!

I can believe it. The lake we live next to in Oklahoma is 2.5 hrs north of Dallas. There have been a few Old Squaws harvested off this lake. Never know I guess.

He doesn't, he repeats this little imaginary game after each season. He's been doing it since he was Idahofowler. The Idahoans ran him out, so now he is Montanafowler. :o

There are several breeding pairs in WY since that is where the bulk of them breed. They breed up small streams inland.
