Last hurrah

Postby jarbo03 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 10:35 am

Jarbo and Taz are going rogue. Heading out to my watershed lake, with near 0 temps the last 2 nights will be good ice to break. Gonna spend the day there with just me and the pooch. Staying at a motel tonight, dad and bro will be meeting me in the morning if it's worth it. Season ends on Sunday, can't lay around and bitch about the shitty weather, plenty of time to do that after the season closes. Catch ya on the flipside, Buttpuppets!

Nope, but these are desperate times. 30+ south winds will help though.

I predict we shall hear stories of pheasants that flapped their wings three times and flew a mile and a half away. 30 mph winds will do that.
I know, I tried hunting in it before. Good luck guys.

Hell yeah. Me and some friends are striking out in the middle of the night to be down at seminole in time for shooting light. That's our last hoorah for the season. Won't even hunt Sunday. Won't even care as long as we kill em tomorrow.

After 1.5 hrs, this is what I have. Didn't expect 2" or thicker ice, oh well. Lots of goose shit on the ice, and you can see where they kept it open as long as they could. Few tracks also.

Looks a whole lot like work, but I guess now you'll be well practiced to do it again in the morning...

Hope it pays off.

Lot prettier than what we call "good enough".

Hopefully you have some wind to blow it all to one end.

Posed to stay above freezing tonight, 35 mph south wind is clearing it out. Not opening it up more though, ice was thicker than I expected. The wind is pissing me off, plus I haven't seen a single bird. May be too much ice.

I had planned on going out this morning but the pond I was going to hunt before going to my part time job is very deep, silty and was froze up hard. Thats going to leave Saturday and Sunday for this duck season.

No way, this one has sheetrock walls! Not the classiest, but I've stayed in much worse. The nicer place is across the road, $10 more plus a dog fee, fuck that shit.

You should offer to throw drywall up in the next room you stay in without it. Trade your work for a season pass or a few seasons if you don't go there often.

You could be done with a little room like that in no time, and be living the high life!

The Star across the road. This place has it all. Microwave and fridge, cable tv, wall heater, modern blue tile in bath, A/C, plus new high thread count sheets, topped off with a crazy dog.
