I just can't imagine what those guys went through. No matter how many times I watch it or read it about, I just can't get over the fact that guys could go through that and come out the other side anywhere close to normal or sane. But they damn sure did.

An amazing generation, I love talking to my gramps about his experiences. He is still opening up about many things, from what I can tell his time in Germany post war was one hell of a time. RIP Bill.

I've thought the same. I can't imagine anyone right now has it anywhere close to what they went thru, and they sucked it up and went on. It's a shame that we don't have very many left to show the way these days.

RIP Mr. Guarnere

Agreed Jim. They truly were the greatest generation.
I'm sure Bill Guarnere appreciated all of the bonus years he was given.

He gave some outstanding interviews when Band of Brothers was filmed. All of those guys did.

I believe there is some footage of him returning to the same treeline he was dug in on.

Rest in peace.
