New Tractor Suppy Co...

...in town kicks ass. Good prices. I think the local mom and pop feed stores and hardwares stores are shitting themselves. Picked up a new dog crate

I even bought a $5 hat to wear when I do have to go into those other stores

I do like Tractor Supply, but keep an eye on them- they seem to be of the Gander Mountain school of merchandising. Start out great, with what you need, then gravitate towards women's clothes and lawn decorations. I went in for some 4' chicken wire, and guess what? They don't carry it anymore, only 3'. But by God they've got lawn windmills and garden benches out the ass.

ha! Will do. They'd be smart around here to supply as much as they could. We have nothing in our county but rape your ass while you scream for mercy mom and pop shops

I worked at the TSC here for a little while. All I did was load trucks and throw feed sacks.
Quitting that job was fun. I fucked shit up.

Same here. Luckily, they still stock the big stuff, like gates and water troughs and such. I could "support the local mom and pop" and but a 12' tube gate for $310, or I could buy the exact same one at Tractor Supply for $130. No brainer. It's still a good store, just seems like when they open they carry a lot of stuff, then as time goes on, they analyze their sales, and see where they can trim the inventory they carry. Which makes good business sense from a numbers perspective, but really tends to piss people off.

But other than that their prices don't seem to be any better than the 5 other stores 10 min away.

Love me some TSC. Although they have started to carry some stupid shit, keeps creeping further in from the front of the store.

You beat me to it. When ours opened several years ago it was great. As you said, it has slowly migrated towards yard decorations and shit like that. I was looking for a u-joint for a PTO shaft on, get this, a Tractor, and their inventory sucked. I had to get my dad to stop at every tractor supply on his way home from Texas before he found one that had the size we needed in stock. It seems that all of the shelves on the tractor parts aisles are empty or so disorganized that you can never find what you are looking for. They are still the first place I check when I am looking for something, but it seems they never have what I need in stock.

Our TSC hasn't changed over time, fuckers did quit carrying Loyall dog food though. Now have to drive a mile further down the road to Orscheln.

You'd pass a lot of chicken wire stores getting to our nearest TSC, but it knocks a half hour off the round trip to the next nearest source of PPP coyote fuel, so I'm a fan.

This. Ours has made it about 1/3 of the way from front to back of the store.

When I worked there they even said it to us as employees that the company was deliberately trying to cater more toward women.

I could see that. It's really the perfect the store for country house wives.
