Need for Speed

Just got back from watching the movie with my wife, it was great! The actual race (in Mendocino County) brought back many found memories of when I lived there. The race runs along the Navarro River and then south along HW 1 and ends at the Point Arena Lighthouse. Some beautiful country. Makes the CHP look a little stupid but that's the way the movie was written and they prevail in the end.

If you get a chance to visit the Point Arena Lighthouse it is open to the public and on certain days you can look down on whales traveling north to Alaska, often with little (calves) whales beside them. We lived in Point Arena for three years and The Sea Ranch (17 miles south) for 6 years. Beautiful country.

As for the plot, it was as expected, but the special effects and stunt drivers were great!

Once drove the 1/101 from San Fran to Astoria. It was great, for about 4 hours. The next 2 days were pure hell. It's true that you can get too much of a good thing.

That movie is based on a video game. I remember spending all my quarters on it at the Arcade.

I had need for speed for my PS2 when I was little. Logged a lot of hours on that game.
