Ok, here's the deal. Got a nuisance job involving geese at a golf course. There's a pretty hefty per bird fee, and the owner has a fed permit to kill x number of them. Firearms permitted.


BUT.


They only hang around the ponds which are mixed in with the homes on one side of the course, so guns aren't an option. Had ok luck netting a few, but they generally escape into the ponds and laugh at you. Plus, they don't call it a wild goose chase for nothing. Also had luck putting a loop of FireWire around the nest, then pulling it right before momma can get up and run away. Then you're left with a wild flapping goose to "reel in" using the stick you tied on for a handle at the other end.

Need to get rid of more than 1 or 2 a morning to really make it worthwhile. So here's the question: do you think the G5 small game heads would blow through a goose or stick in a goose, or just stun it long enough to run the last 20 yards and grab it and throw it in the sack?

Don't want to use regular arrows, because having a goose walking around for a week shishkebabed looks bad for everybody, and I'm sure someone would complain. Because they want the geese gone, and don't like them shitting all over their stuff, but believe they go to some magical Disney vacation for geese. This is the last thing I could think of, the small game heads.

Any other ideas are welcomed.

AT, the City of Chicago has a not-so-secret force of guys that do what you do.
They use tranquilizer darts and then gas the geese in mobile gas chambers.
I know you're trying to do it the quick and dirty way with the least ppl getting upset.
Ask RMFC about that shotgun with the 4' barrel and how quiet it is.???

I don't think game laws apply with a culling permit. You may be able to shoot around the houses as long as you are shooting away from them. I know at our camp in pa they culled the deer in the development. They put out food and kill them there. A huge pile of corn and a couple decoys and you got them.

I'd use this as an excuse to buy one of them Benjamin air rifles.
Bet you could shoot two or three out of a bunch if you shoot the right ones.
Not sure but I think you take out the sentries.

Betty, if I thought I could go buy quarts of animal tranquilizer, do you think I'd just be hustling a few hundred bucks killing critters?

Can I buy arsenic? Even if I could, it's not the best idea. Don't want a bunch of dead geese floating/laying around for the next few weeks. Need in and out solutions.

As for the guns, it's not the legality of it, it's the attention it would draw. Unwanted attention. If I could find some CCI subsonic, that'd be ideal.

Get those rubber blunt points and aim for the neck/head. You should be able to pull that off.

First of all how the hell do I get a job like this. Next I would echo the air gun nominations. Some of them are pretty badass and accurate.set you up a lawn chair and plink away.

a pellet gun is probably an assault weapon in maryland by the time he makes the move tho.

They use dogs at the golf courses here. Very effective but how do you profit off that?

I'd use an arrow tipped with a mechanical broadhead with a 2 inch cut or better.if you hit it it's gonna die.rage or grim reapers are a couple.

How close can you get to the birds? What about that guillotine broad head for turkey's?

This is how I would do it. Guillotine is another one.

if you found a tennis ball and packed it with match heads you found it would be ripe for throwing at geese.

Those are shit with modern bows. You got one shot then they are trashed.

Archery is a bad idea.
If you miss or hit and lose your arrow...there's a nasty hazard. Mix it with a lawnmower....Gee God forget archery.
