I grilled salmon with lemon juice and strips of bacon laid over the top, seasoned and wrapped in tin foil, baked potatoe rice and salad.

Looks good! Cookout last night with dove, along with too much Jim Beam. Too bad we can't shoot woodies during the early season here, they were everywhere on the river yesterday morning. Did make for some good steadiness training for Taz, splashing down in the dekes, whistling like crazy and walking around on the sandbar made it very tempting for him.

I wish we had more woodrows in california. I've never shot one. We've got a few mountain ponds that hold a few each but I can never get on the birds

I shoot very few during regular season, but they are everywhere during teal season. Kansas needs to get with the program like other states and have woodies with early teal.

We used to have a lot more of them around here (at least in the swamp behind the farm). Occasionally I'll see them in the marsh, but they usually fly too early around here- definitely the first duck you'll "see" when hunting where I hunt, but I've only ever shot one. Sometimes in the evenings (when I don't have a gun, or am sitting in a treestand on a field edge) there will be groups of 5 or 6 that will circle and work the cut corn fields for about 9 laps, buzzing by me about 10 yards away each time. Irritating.

Wood ducks can be had up here but only for a very short time. I've never shot one in MI.

I have shot maybe 20 in my years hunting. Would like to shoot more, to me they are the best eating duck along with teal.

the kids should be putting a smack down on them this weekend, Jr can only shoot hens though, he has the same problem as assa with pintails. i have seen him double on crossing teal with a sxs and then minutes later miss a big drake wood duck sitting on the water in front of him 20 yards out, jgun has witnessed it also ...

I almost wrote "jgun has seen jr choke on woodies a few times too" god that is horrible, thank god I didnt
