What do you guys do for a living that you use/need to carry a knife for?

I'm not asking in the context "you don't need a knife/gun/whatever"

Or do you carry one for personal protection? That would honestly be my only use for one but I believe I am a tad to clumsy to have it be a effective means for protection.
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

Seriously? Knives are an incredibly useful tool for just about anyone. I'm not sure that profession matters.

I work for a farm, mine cuts banding and hose, is a screwdriver and prybar it's purely utilitarian. This is AZ I carry a gun for protection not a knife.

I'm dead serious. I've never been in a position where I said "wish I had a knife on me right now". In an everyday use scenario. I obviously bring one while hunting/fishing etc

Some grey thing without sarrations. Kershaw I think. It has a spring assist which is incredibly handy.

I carry mine and a leather man everywhere. Use them both on a daily basis at work and at home.

Mines a spring assisted kershaw. I wish I had gotten one with serrations though. I do have a serrated bench made that I carry sometimes too.

I thought I didn't like them. Til I realized I need the serrations more often then not.
Straight blades are good for whittling and digging dirt out of your fingernails.

I carry mine for personal protection and I use it at work a good amount. I'm just glad my school isn't totally communist. They still allow students to carry knives as long as the blades under 4", it's not a fixed blade, not spring assisted, and does not have a serrated edge.

Eric you're a crazy man for not carrying a knife. Mine is a tool that I couldn't get through an average day without. Everything from castrating wild pigs on my cowboy buddy's ranch every Monday and Wednesday to my work as a part time Jewish mohel performing Brit Milah's every Thursday. Not to mention it makes a great tooth pick.

Oh and I use it two nights a week in my Filipino martial arts class.

You don't realize how much you would use it, till you have it to use. That sounds stupid, but it's the truth.

As for me personally I use a leather man multi tool as both knife and tool daily but between the office and the field it's a necessary piece of equipment but that's all as far as a knife goes I've carried for years
