New spot

Postby Baysider » Thu Oct 04, 2012 2:58 pm

I picked up a new spot this year. I typically hunt with my friends and dont have my own waders or decoys. My friends wont return my calls now that the season is near. Most of the time I was taking a nap when they set decoys so Im not sure where to start. I was looking at some decoys of my own as well. If I see all different types of species will I need at least one decoy of each species to get them to land? I was thinking one mallard, wood duck, grey duck, baldcrown, teal, black duck, dipper, pintail, and a blue bill to bring in those divers. Ive also been considering a fully flocked yote decoy as they are very weary animals and it would serve as a confidence decoy. I dont plan to hunt until after deer season goes out so the water is pretty cold. After getting wet from walking in the water would a 20 minute walk to the prius be enough to kill me in the winter? I lucked out and found an old refrigerator washed up on the bank. I plan to get in and close the lid and pop out to shoot the ducks. Anyone want to hunt with me this year and show me the ropes? I'll do all the calling too.

PS does anyone know where I can get those "tray" type floor mats from. My wife is going to kill me if I get mud and water on the floor of the prius and Im a bit worried about the batteries too.

Thanks,

Elmer Fudd

Maybe. If you do I'll be hunting under that bridge near Pocomoke off route 13 with a pumpkin on my head That mallard is back. Bring the buckshot and don't worry if I'm in my under wear. It's some good advice I got off DHC.

Aren't you supposed to cover yourself in vasoline when you use the pumpkin camo?

The vasoline is to hold the pumkin seeds to you. That way they dont hit the ground and you're not actually baiting.
