I'm having a dilemma. There's two guys, looks like maybe a father/son about 400 yards away across the marsh. I'd have to walk around the point, back through the woods, and back out to get to them. I've seen nothing to shoot at, but they've shot about 4 times. I was looking at them out of my binos. They have a terrible set up, sitting in ankle high marsh grass with a 3-foot high piece of burlap staked in front of them. I can see them with the naked eye easily.

So I got the binos on them (im bored) and I watch a very good shot. On a cormorant. One guy goes to get it, holds it up while the other guy takes a pic. Then drops it, and they grab their guns and shoot 3 times. At a flight of cormorants. Didn't get any this time. Seems like they just don't know any better, and I hate to see someone get in trouble, but its a long walk.

I've only seen them drop one. Thank God they're bad shots. Next time they try to light up a bunch of cormorants, I'm going to pack up and go let them know. Until then I'm sitting tight.

I was a little concerned, to be honest. I was trying to be a nice guy, but for all I knew, they knew exactly what they were doing and just didn't care. I went back and dropped my stuff off and got my .380, carrying it in my hand, with my hands tucked inside my waders like my hands were just cold while I walked out there. Two guys with shotguns and a big fine staring them in the face, and only one yahoo standing there? Damn right I wasn't going to be "naked". In retrospect, I should have just kept my shotgun with me. They honestly had no clue they were doing something wrong, but I wanted to make it immediately, abundantly clear that I could give two shits what they were doing, just wanted to make sure they didn't go talking or putting up pics of their "limit". If I would've got shot, that would've been the last time I tried to be a nice guy. Let 'em rot in the future. But they were cool. No "thank yous", since they seemed a little embarrassed.

I've got two deer hanging, getting ready to go out after more, so my feelings aren't tremendously hurt, since I'll be putting deer in the freezer tomorrow. The birds get a pass. Of course they're still in upstate New York, apparently, so I don't think they'll feel too relieved.

I shouldn't have made the crack about a skunk. I had a skunk today. Karma. The woodies, teal and other small ducks vanished with this cold spell. It was in the twenties this morning where I went.
