Here are my choices for tomorrow morning. They all face west, and I'm not certain it even matters, since there's not many ducks in the bay yet, but that's never stopped me before. Figured I'd put it up here for opinions

B looks ducky but I wouldn't listen to me. I've been skunked 4 times in a row now.

Have you seen birds on any of them?

Option C, under the bridge.

I like the point straight out in pic A. If you don't know what is around I like to set up on points where decoys can be seen easy and you can see easy. You might see something happening for tomorrow or sunday!

I'd go with B. You need to keep your skunk streak alive from last year. Fortunately, I'm already up on you by 5. Our NW Zone opener was last week. I went Saturday and Monday. No pressure for me tomorrow.

He can't hunt on Sunday.

I like A or B. Would you be hunting the flooded grass on B, or the open water?

I have a list of things I go off when choosing to hunt a spot, first is always are there birds here, or are they using the surrounding area? If you can put yourself under the birds your chances of a successful hunt increase exponentially. Next question I ask is there a reason for birds to use this particular area (food source, loafing spot, history of use, etc)? Then I go to how easy is it to hide? With no knowledge of the area and just looking at your pictures, it looks like you have a decent stand of some moist soil veg, and also a good area for invertebrates in option B, however option C seems to give you the most visibility and looks to be one of the best areas to hide, Option D looks to be the best hide.

Honestly, they're all about the same right now, since there are few birds on the open water, and I have no access to a spot for puddlers (haven't hunted them for years, anyway). Jgun, you're right about the bridge, but about 2 months early. By Christmas, they are piled up there. As for food, there are oak trees lining the marsh in A and B, but tons of sea grass and minnows in C and D. As for visibility, A or D would give the most exposure, but a lot will have to do with the wind. If it's chopping up the bay, D is out, leaving A or C. B is out because it's what Olly picked. And since more said A than C, as of now, A it is.

Just wait till 30 minutes before LST and watch for anyone else going to the spots. Then just setup on the point just out from them. Tada! Didn't even have to bring the decoys!

Set the phone on the rear seat, and then lay down across it.

I doubt it'd be the first time you layed down in the back of a cruiser

Your iPhone. Locks the screen to keep it from flipping on you. Try it.

Woodies whistling all over. Still 24 minutes to LST. For the record, I'm at A. SW wind is slamming my dekes into the bank, with 8 oz mushrooms. I would've had them in my lap at D. Still a good life. Sipping coffee having a smoke, waiting for the sun. Woodies whistling and mallards across at the golf course waking up. Wish the iPhone took night pictures- almost a new moon, with a bajillion stars out walking in.

These Woodrows are killing me. Be nice if they hang around for another 9 minutes, but it doesn't seem to happen very often.

I'd like to place an order for a couple thousand more cormorants. I bet if we try a little harder, I can have an unending flight of them coming over.
