Certainly appears so, and that you've worn that poor What'sithound out.

Which begs the question, "Is it better to go out with a bang or a whimper?" "Bang" is looking pretty good right now when I'm a bit jealous. But seasons that finished strong have left me jonesing for more, while I was fine with closing the door on this tough one.

Looks like a nice pile.
I ended it last Saturday. Had a crappy day.
Happened sort of fast. All in ten min or less.
First I shot a hen mallard. Dog wanted to play with it. (he has trouble killing a winged one and was trying. I think he was just having fun)
Anyway I shot a wood duck that skipped like a flat rock when it hit the water, (cool) Milo drops the hen to go for the wood duck. She gone, damn.
So the wood duck escapes into the woods but not before I shoot a drake mallard. Almost took his head off. Neck was dangling, duck is fighting to fly but coming down. Shoot it again! But no...failed to re-load on the woodie. It landed in woods and swam off somehow? Lost all three ducks,
Looked for them ducks for about 30 minutes. The ducks had quit flying. It was a quick morning.
I decide screw it for today. Flip phone into the deep water. Oops. It was sitting on the burlap and I didn't see it. Pulled the burlap and PLOP.

Phone refused to charge. Watching it go dead was rough. It worked, just no charging so I'm sending out texts to everyone saying call me in a few days so I can have your phone number...lol
Decided to pack it up and go home. Get another battery or something. About halfway home the battery started charging.

What a way to end it. Dog's getting some tough love training now.

Already took the blind off and put the trolling motor and rod savers back on. ~270 days until duck season.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

I think I am going to like the "finish strong" ending.........the last couple of years going out on a whimper had me thinking about taking up golf.

Had a "resurection" mallard..........

interesting deal.......greenhead hits the water and goes swimming then walking up the opposite bank.....Quaid the Cajun wachtelhund heads that way, but comes back with a live woodie hen........hummmm.......

So I kennel him up in the paddle boat.....head to other bank and did the "go find him".......

Quaid does a pretty good job, poses for a few pics........then gives me the bird and decides to do a little thinning of the armodilleaux herd.

After a fifteen minute "discussion" about the taking of scaly beast during a duck hunt.......Quaid and I head to the pirogue and the damn mallard is standing in the bottom of the little baot and takes off flying.....!!! Thanks to the fine shooting of my guest, we "re-took" then damn possum greenhead! Crazy fun stuff!!

I'm hoping it is with a whimper because that is surely what I did. Total for January 1 Canada Goose and 3 total for the blinds I hunted. Although I did only hunt 4 days with very few I had any regrets for not hunting. I was in the high blind for the club on 2 of those 4 days :o My single being the club total for one and the two my buddies shot being the club total for another. Actually, I think I may have been tied for the high blind on the other two days :o :o

That is a very interesting dog. What breed is he?
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams
