Old Iron

I started this winter with 4 running pieces of snow removal equipment
2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 with plow
1985 Kubota L245DT with bucket.
1994 John Deere GT262 with snowblower
2000 Suzuki King Quad with plow
After the first storm the Kubota started running like crap. Changed the fuel filter, which was full of crud, and made sure to fill the new one with fresh diesel. Kubota would not start at all.
John Deere shift lever fell out after end bearing mount on one side loosened up. No John Deere. Fixed the linkage but now it won't start, must be the neutral safety switch
Winch to the ATVG plow quit working
Plowed one storm with only the 3/4 ton.
Yesterday I started with the John Deere. Traced wires all over and found the neutral switch. Wires looked fine. Pulled switch and it tested fine. Cleaned connections, plugged everything back in and Eureka! It worked!
From there I went to the ATV, tested winch and switch. Switch was bad. Had a spare winch in the garage that I mount on my flatbed trailer so I took the switch off that. Got that back together and it works. Finished up at dark.
Today in the very beginnings of the storm I had Karen come out to help me (she has the week off). She ran the starter while I opened up fittings at the fuel pump, then to each injector in turn. I had her crank until no more bubbles came out, just clear diesel fuel. Tried it after I tightened everything back up and it fired right up!!
Now I have 4 pieces of running snow removal equipment again!
You gotta love old iron.
