35+ years of picking up OP's trash

We own an old brick farm house with a 2-acre yard in the city. (my bee yard)
It's on a busy corner. People like to take the turn and toss their whiskey, wine, or beer bottles and other stuff into the yard and have been doing it since I was in high school. Getting sick of picking it up and paying the garbage man to haul it off. I can catch people red-handed dumping and the police refuse to do anything about it despite me signing complaints.

I'm going to put up targets and make a point system and see how that goes. If it makes the local news I'd be glad to tell them a good story. Lately they been trying to take out my honey for sale signs and they got pretty good aim. End of the driveway was covered in glass yesterday. So sick of it that I want to put up cameras and start gathering hard evidence.

For fun what would you all do? This could get interesting.

Our place is at the edge of a small town but on a fairly busy state highway, and not too many days pass without my getting to pick up some trashy person's litter. I've only witness the act one time and went to some trouble to follow the fellow to his own home ten or twelve miles distant and return it to him. Might get my old ass kicked, or shot, doing that now.

But what your thread title made me think of, is how much litter I've picked up on my morning runs and now walks around town over the years. If I can see a bin or dumpster ahead, I'll pick up most of whatever is along my three or four mile course. Easier to do that once and not look at it time and again and get pissed off over and over.

There is a park across the street from my house with a basketball court. Garbage can right there. Yet they leave their water bottles and other junk all over the place.

I just don't get people like that.

My brother and uncle got a ticket for littering. The game warden that did it. It shocked me that he hasn't disappeared into a strip pit because he is awful. They went fishing at night at a popular spot that does have a real litter problem. They stopped at dunking donuts and had two coffees and a couple donuts. When they were done fishing, they stuffed the dunkin donuts bag full of garbage. When they left, the warden stopped them, went through the garbage they picked up and then gave them a ticket because they only had one coffee cup in the bag. They clearly were taking more garbage out than they took in, but this mindless idiot had grounds for a ticket and he never passes. I just wanted to know how he justified giving them both a ticket. Only one cup was left behind, so only one person "littered."

The part that angers me is that every so often the city threatens to fine us $750/day for NOT picking up other peoples trash. The same city that won't enforce the littering laws wants to fine us for not obeying the littering laws!?!?!?!?
I have to haul the trash home to my own place so generally I just chop it up with the ZTR and blow it into the street.
The mower shreds the stuff but tires are not cheap.

Now if I were to haul the trash to the opposite side of town where the doctors and lawyers live and then dump it how much y'all want to bet I'd get caught and fined the $60?

There is more to this story. There is a line of trees like a hedge along the trashy street. Makes the litterbugs feel comfy.
The city widened the road just enough to where them trees are now on the easement. There is a dispute over who is responsible for them trees. Fifteen feet or less and it's theirs. Fifteen feet is fifteen feet and they know it. One day I showed up and my buddy officer Dave was blocking the road because a tree fell. I sighed, ran and got my chainsaw. By the time I got ready the city tree manager was standing there scratching his head. Told them I'd cut the tree and said I don't think this is my responsibility. Tree guy muttered he don't know either as he was looking down at the ground and kicking rocks. This is going to get legal one day and it won't be long as my dad died recently and my mom ain't far behind. The house is in their name but I maintain it.

The street is asphalt now and you'd never believe it but each time they re-cover it they move it a few inches away...eventually the 15 feet thing. So far they've moved it about a foot but if I dig a little there's the edge of the concrete pavement where it always was. They're playing games over the trees. Bottom line. Don't fight city hall. They will fuck you in the end.

All I gotta do is cut down a couple trees, chop them into bits, then pay the yard waste racketeers to sell it to someone else.

Been fighting over this one since I was in high school. City agreed to cut and remove then cut the wrong tree.

The city has the cajones to threaten to fine us whenever the speed limit sign gets blocked by limbs. Every couple years I have to get the pole-saw and generator going to trim their trees. Such a clusterfuck. I'm getting old and they're going to take that house over this kind of shit then build another fucking Walgreens. There already is one a half mile to the east.

They'll cut the biggest oak tree in the state to get it done too. They cut the one by Long's Garage that was the biggest. It's gone. Nothing left but a stump. I always wanted to stump Tammie Long for a long long time. She was a hottie.

The city here threatened my mother in law over her 1ac corner lot. I told her that I would handle it. I took the skid steer over and cut every single tree down, they were all Hackberrys. I mowed the lot, hauled everything off and then sprayed the entire lot with commercial grade Round Up.

She gets a call and post card from the city saying that they are going to fine her if she didn't clean up, mow and trim the trees. I said impossible, called the code enforcement officer and had the silly witch meet me out there. I waited for over an hour and got a phone call that she was going to fine my mother in law for wasting her time, I said I am setting on the corner of the lot waiting for her. Stupid woman had been trying to fine her for a lot 3 blocks away and on a street that is not even close in name.
