NH Opener 2017

Postby Throbbin Rods » Tue Oct 03, 2017 3:25 am

Good luck and safe hunting to all who have their waterfowl opener this morning. My young friend Andy and I are heading to a little hole in a small river here in NH that was holding plenty of ducks during the early goose season. Hoping for some mallard breast and onions cooked with bacon for dinner tonight!!

We saw about 60-70 ducks. I fired 3 shots with no meat. My young companion probably fired 15-18 with no meat. After sitting the decoys until noon I took him on his first float hunt. Just about every corner I paddled around had a duck or two, couple of them had 5 or 6. First time for him shooting out of a canoe and around corners. He will do better next time. Hopefully so will i!

At least you had some chances to get the misses out of the barrels. Next time!

Came home around 2pm, feeling tired. Laid down for a quick nap, planning to tackle the to do list after. Woke up with full fledged flu. No hunting for me for the next few days. When I was in my thirties and forties I could still get it done and hunt, sick or not. In my sixties I am finding out that I cannot.
Good luck to all!
