Do some scouting and make a note of "where" the birds want to be, is probably the most important thing. Decoy placement preferences vary widely, so take note of birds on the X and try to replicate if possible. Check water depth to be sure your decoy strings are long enough, and blend into natural cover if possible. I don't think you have as much competition in CO that most of us see, and from what I've been told from a buddy that goes to Denver and hunts occasionally, plenty of places to hunt without the need of a boat.

Always position decoys in a pattern that says
"LAND HERE" ---->X
