How in the world do they get to hunt ducks from October 6 until Jan 13 the. They can also harvest a bag limit of 7 mallards daily with no more than 2 hens. They also want to increase the Pintail bag to 3 daily next season. I don't understand?

Same reason the Central Flyway has more liberal regs than the Atlantic or Mississippi: more favorable bird to gun ratio.

Illinois duck season
Oct 21 -Jan 21

You have to start in the north and migrate to the south. There are four zones with four different 60-day seasons.
No split.

That's a 90-day season if you consider the entire state. (it's a tall state) 92? I'm not counting or getting out a calendar.
California is even taller.

Have never hunted west of Arkansas and suspect Cal has zones like Illinois.

Pacific flyway population supports it,also a 10 per man per day speck limit, once again the pacific population is very good

Wow! Didn't realize that

Hmmm. Sounds like you been to Cash.
Spent a lot of time driving around gawking in that area myself.
Getting a pit around there is painfully pricey.
