Then go with the gun you got.

2 3/4 will do just fine.

I've shot a whole lot of stuff with old wingmaster 870's.
Once you can hit what you're looking at almost every time then upgrade to one of the B-guns but do not tell your wife. ;)

yea, wouldn't buy the 11-87. There are better options at that price point, the Beretta Outlander being one but also consider Franchi or Stoeger who have upped their game significantly over the last 5-8 years. A big mistake in our modern day would be to buy a Remington just because it's a Remington.

I quite literally gave my 11-87 away and still felt bad about sticking someone with it. Never shot a 935 but don't recall any reliability issues with those through my blind.

I have an 11-87 that's a few years old that I've hardly used. Got it new as a gift and kind of laid off waterfowling for a bit in the early 2000 decline, I think it was. I had to remove the barrel from time to time during the hunt due to the bolt sticking and not releasing. The barrel seems to roll during shooting and cause some sort of issue with the bolt. I'm sure I could figure it out and fix it, but the versamax is doing okay....we'll, except for the bolt handle flying out when shot. This started this past season. Remington sent me a couple of redesigns to try out this fall.

The 1187 is a back up, sitting in my cabinet with all of it's 1100 buddies, some wore slap out. Smooth top barrel, poor boy specials.
