needed to vent

Postby capt1972 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 7:44 pm

So...... I get up this morning and get to the ramp by 4am. Nobody there, I think "cool". I launch the boat an make the run to where I want to hunt busting ducks off the water the whole way. I keep thinking "this is going to be a good day", I was mistaken.

I get the dekes set and get the boat set and blind up. 5:30 now, got an hour till LST, time for some coffee. About half way through my first cup a huge mat of grass comes up the river with the tide and wipes out the dekes.Image Ok, calm down, this is all part of the duck hunting experience I tell myself.

After getting all reset and looking at the time, 20 mins till LST. Cool, more coffee.

10 mins till LST this guy paddles up to me and asks if I've seen another guy float buy. I say no and then he asks if I mind if he sets up on the next bend up river? I say works for me cause that is about 200yrds away.

LST comes and no birds. About an hour into it I hear geese coming. I start calling and get 3 to break away from the flock and start to circle. All of a sudden BOOM BOOM BOOM I'm like what the F*ck? The geese were still about 50 yrds high and the dipsh!t next to me starts skybusting. It was at this point I also figured out he didn't set up 200yrds from me, he was maybe 60yrds from me! Image

Now my wife is freaked out cause there is shot raining down on top of us. I am pissed because I've got an idiot set up next to me skybusting (and missing) geese that I called in. So I decide to start messing with him. I would randomly hit the call and he would chime right in with his every time I did it. Then I took it one step further, I would lay on the call, wait and then fire a couple of rounds and in a loud voice say something to the effect of "wow! Nice shot honey! You got a double!" I then sent the dog for a swim and when she got back said " Holy Sh!t honey! Your first duck ever and you got a band!" He could not see anything coming up the river from where he was set up.

This continued for a while till we got bored. I then exclaim " Well hun, that's our limit!" and proceed to pick up the decoys.

As one last f*ck you, I trimmed the motor way up and waked the snot out of them sitting in their little gheyaks.

ok, rant over. Just needed to get it out!

Haha in don't see anything wrong with that. There have been times when I've setup on someone inside 100 yrds that I didn't know was there before. Why they didn't clue me in with a flash light or something I don't know but ill get up and move even at the expense of getting some birds. Why more people don't show this same basic common courtesy is beyond me.

I was there first and he knew I was there, he talked to me. I know the outdoors is for everyone but really? 60 yards?

Shoulda pulled up in the boat and swatted 1 of his decoys, that would've got your point across.

HAHA He had a spinner out, that would have been the one to shoot! Being still in the air and all!

This just really cracked me up picturing it in my mind. Cap'n all straight faced, cruising at a stately pace into the decoys from around a bend in the gut, blasting, and then cruising right back from whence he came, all without saying a word.

Not sure why people do that kind of thing. Had the same thing happen to me before and we have 55 miles of river to choose from. Kind of irritating, but that's how some people operate.
