Hate to do it but eventually I got to say it.
Anytime something bad happens in my family its duck season. My wife is having surgery Thursday and will be home for the rest of the year recovering.
Family seems to think hunting is more important than being a nurse. I have my doubts. Will see.
I keep getting these "this may be the end" signals from weird sources. Screw that.

I have laughed heartily at those. Last year out of state license sales decreased over 3000 just for waterfowl, which comes out to about $400,000. Evidently someone up the chain noticed that.

its much much more. Its over $200 a season for me to hunt public for 30 days. Assuming its the same for all oosers that's $600k.
Plus Sonic, Hawks, DNW, and the motels all feel it too.
If they'd just leave "it" alone and quit trying to maximize the locals would settle down. Last year they were quietly raising hell about being broke.

I heard that they dont do so good until it freezes then you hit the river. The Illinois River. Right?
Someone tried getting me to go there once.

I hunt (public) solo like you 90% of the time. I just find small pockets of birds and hunt them. It does concentrate the birds when it freezes so it does help. I'm sure some of the water I hunt has been in the Illinois River.
The gun club sits on the Oklahoma, Arkansas line. No beer sales in Arkansas on Sunday, ice cold Oklahoma beer goes down pretty good on an August Sunday afternoon.
