Am ready to go locate the brush piles now.
Dual spectrum sonar.
Sounds good.

It's different. Can actually hear the sonar pinging.
It clicks..my lowrance never did that.

Sonar and charts too. When will they make duck finders?

That’s a great purchase I don’t think you will regret it. I do not personally own one but everybody I know that has one couldn’t be happier

Note to self: remove transducer during duck season.
Now I need a fishing license but it expires in 3 weeks.
I guess just buy the 2023 one and hope.
I've not been checked in about 4 years .

The one on the right is a lowrance triple shot that's about 2 years old and broken.
On the left is a new hummingbird transducer.
The bracket is designed to pop up or break off I guess.
Much smaller. Does the same thing pretty much.
The damn thing has blue tooth so the kids can watch their own screens I think.

Got the new gadgetry attached and ready.
Look at weather and it's going to rain in an hour at the lake. Isn't that how it works ?

It is extremely unlikely for me to see a snow goose in Champaign. It has happened but Canada geese live here.

The sonar works great.
The down imaging is better. Bait fish were from 2-4 feet down in general. Found a few interesting features up by parnell.
It's pretty shallow in that area. 7-10 feet with the deepest being 17' by the bridge.
Will get a license and buy me some bait

My dad picked where to put a transducer.
He was wayy smarter than any of us he had a PhD in electrical engineering.
If I run the motor on tilt or shallow water setting I get data from both sides of the boat.
If I get above 5 mph it starts making bubbles and the screen detail suffers.
The lowrance transducer was too long and if I wanted to see both sides I had to raise the engine out of the water.
The hummingbird unit works a lot better.

The white stuff in the transom pic is water weld.
That stuff is amazing.
It's a marine epoxy putty that has saved my ass twice now. Had to plug holes from the previous transducer.
The other time I had a gash in the hull and it was pretty ugly. Rough up around where you repair with course sandpaper.
The putty has the hardener in the center so you cut off a piece the right size and mix it up in your hand then press it on. Gets hard as a rock and is pretty permanent.
Water Weld. Find it at Lowes.

I patched at polybutylene pipe with water weld once, you’re right, good stuff.

Marine-Tex is very similar to the Water Weld product you are using, and it has save my bacon several times in situations like that, where you have a hole below the water line. I mounted a piece of 5/4 treated decking to the stern of my aluminum boat, using screws above the water line, and glued as well. That way, there is no hole below the water line to chance a leak.

My 14' aluminum boat is a battleship! 3-4 years ago, I bought a 20' sheet of 1/8" aluminum, and asked my stepson to build me a boat. We discussed length, width, side angles and height. He drew it out, cut it out, and took it to a ship-fitter to bend into the shape of the hull. Then he pulled to bow together, put a stern in it (he included two sides of the float pods that are on the stern, so they are part of the one piece hull). He also added flotation foam between the floor and the hull.

Yesterday I searched for brush piles and old Bridge pilings that are marked on a map I bought.
Today I watched this video and hell yeah this is how it works. This guy explains it really well.

Sweet video
I think if I put a memory card in I can search back thru up to 8 hours of data and mark likely spots to try.
Seriously doubt I get that serious about fishing.
Maybe the grandkids will play with it.

You'll find a swarm soon enough.
They seem to find me in weird places like...
Once one lit on a brach while I was duck hunting.
Just looked up to see what was buzzing and screw messing with it. Leave it for the Robertsons.

If you hunt teal where I do you'll see them momarsh boat things with home built mud motors because they can get to the flat, thru it, and up into the creeks where they're not supposed to be. Teal hide up in the creeks. Hunting themon the big water is nearly futile. They fly out and back but avoid your spread. They'll use the far side of the lake. Decoy shy big time.
If you can figure out how to hunt the creeks...but that's no motor territory. Pita to access it.
Once it's icy cold them tiny boats don't go because the skinny water turns to ice.

Been cramming up on youtube fish finder tips.
It felt completely idiotic driving the boat in circles to scan an underwater bridge piling but I guess I was doing it right. Self-teaching yourself to find crappie? Not gunna happen.
Found the right video that explained how to tell a school of crappie from bass. Interesting stuff.
I found crappie galore yesterday but it was pretty nasty out. Sleet was pelting me. Had lake to myself. Weather sucked

When you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with bullshit.

Recent events...
40,000 hours of video evidence on Jan 6th was released to Fox News who quickly went thru it and selected a few minutes to show off on TV.
Uhhh...I used to maintain very expensive machinery that ran 24-7-364. One day for PM. (Preventative maintenance)
A year is 10,000 hours roughly.
It'd take 4 years to view all the Jan 6th footage IF YOU NEVER STOP TO EAT OR REST.
See where this is going?
There is no way humanly possible that anyone has seen it all.

Was thinking about just tossing the lowrance.
Hooked it up to a power supply and it did the same fucked up glitch. So I hit the menu button and it works.
The transducer is fine it is clicking away.
So I have two fish finders now.
Too bad I just assumed it was broke.
It's not.

Here it is running in demo mode.
16785728255522842002595573094601.jpg

To repair the transducer this glue works.
It's different. There's a pen with primer that you write on where you're going to glue. Do both surfaces to be bonded. Glue both, stick em together, and wait a day.
I'll be damned...it worked.

Bought chicken feed the other day.
It's over $15/bag now.
So I leaned down and looked at the newly hatched chicks. GASP.
It's $4.99 for one Easter egger chick. ( they were $1.99 or less)
Holy hell batman.
Are you guys ready for KFC to be rich people food?
They say we will.live to see a chicken cost $25.

Sigh. Chickenomics again?
In 1985 I earned $9/hour or nine chickens per hour. A chicken was a buck.
Im experienced now and have my own tools and truck so I want 10 chickens per hour please.
That's just $2000/day.

In the 1930s (((they))) did the same thing to Germany that (((theyre))) doing to us now.
Remember the phrase "solid as a dollar?".
Never heard of it...

Ever notice how many cowboy shows and movies use this site to film ? Ever wonder why?
Probably not but you're going to know why shortly.
Rules for union actors is why.
The deal is " if they have to travel more than 30 miles to a set to film at the cast and crew get paid travel time and expenses".
To save money they filmed at a certain ranch in Hollywood and that rock formation is a park.
It's been in lots of movies and TV shows.

Had a friend that moved to Hollywood. I ended up there too for a while. My buddy took me to all these places and kept saying to remember it because you'll see it on TV.
The Lone Ranger cave...is another strange location where they used the same hole in a rock to make it appear it's a cave. Gilligan...same cave. Star Trek too.
Nothing about Hollywood is real except for this rock.
