Been noticing the birds of prey that use the crown of the oak. The top is dead from lightning
Usually it's buzzards but today a big white and brown hawk showed up.

Also called a rough-legged hawk, but they should probably still be very far north. If it doesn't have a red tail or white head and tail I a can't identify them. I wonder if this is another color phase of red tail instead of an Arctic nesting hawk in central Illinois in September.
