Been seeing bits n pieces thru analysts videos.

Build back better hasn't built anything so the 2024 slogan is going to be "finish the job".

Things are starting to look like that they're actually going to build the water retention ponds by my house.
This is the office for the big project.
16759499738984279394079949029609.jpg

This thing is knocking down all the trees and fences from where the ponds go.
It sort of appears that the earth they dig up will go to an even bigger project on the I57 & I74 clover leaf.
They're completely re-doing that too.
So there's your build back better money getting spent in my back yard.
Thanks...I guess. The pond will have geese to kill.

Thank God, it’s good knowing our tax money is attracting waterfowl. Maybe DU can take notes?

In general around here if you dig a hole big enough it fills with water. Geese and ducks show up and stay it's kind of cool but there is ALWAYS someone 5 steps ahead of you that got permission to hunt before the hole even had permission to be there.
I'll be all Jeff Foiles indahood.
Look for bands I guess

Here's an example of your money at work.
20 years ago they dug this to get dirt to bury where the air force had firefighter training fires.
Now that the cats out of the bag on the foam being carcinogenic....I'd stay away from the base.
They had fires every day for decades.
They buried it good...

About 13 years ago I went on a quest...I wanted post cards and everywhere I went thought I'd lost it.
Post Cards what's that?
At the Museum of the Grand Prairie in Stuttgart I found them. They were guarded by a crack team of little old ladies that insisted I take the rice tour.
That museum is all about German's that settled there to farm rice. Has a tiny little duck display in one corner.

Refuge stuff slips thru my email filter.
They got 17 pages of bickering about shortstopping ducks and how to correct it.
Haha all you gotta do is get every square inch of farmland plowed under by the start of duck season like it was in 1972 or whatever.
Ban no-till.

Someday we’ll all realize that birds are just disappearing and we are being misled for the money we spend. I believe what I see, and I see less every season. I did enjoy reading the 17 page banter though.

At least I learned the Flyway Federation has a wagon we can ride on. I hope it has comfortable seats and snacks are served.

The good news is how it's affecting the non die-hards.
I know quite a few ex duck hunters.
It's surreal when you find out your buddy traded in his gun and lab for an English bulldog. You're like " no way".
It does happen tho.

Should be repeated that it's been well established that each of us would lie to our own mothers over a duck.
Having said that let's have a poll and select the most credible member.   it ain't me?
   damnit all to hell.
This is extremely important to a couple guys from canadia. Credibility...

Does anyone truly believe that that Matt guy killed 43 species in one season? The video keeps popping up in my feed but I'm not gonna watch it.
Hollywood magic you know.

It'd be great to build one of these and drop it off at a certain duck club.
I know they'd get endless fun with this toy.

Last fall I was freezing bottles of water for my cooler.
Every so often I'd catch one that was still liquid but had been in the freezer long enough to have frozen?
I'd pick it up or bump it a little then like magic it'd turn solid.
It's quite a strange phenomenon but I'm not the only one that's discovered it. Try and see if you can do ice magic tonight?

Flashback...
One day I walked into an Osco Drug store and this huge red display with 12 inch tall letters ..
Said FREE CIGARETTES.
Sweet so I grabbed like 8 packs.
Now the dumb part.
"FREE" cigarettes were tobacco free not free of charge.
Imagine my surprise when Wendy wanted money for them.
Too bad I never saw a "FREE" record album.
All Right Now...

Dang.
Fishing sounds good.
They've been stocking the lake and the catch rate on largemouth bass is high.
Crappie is something I'd eat.
Throw them bass back.
Maybe I'll bolt the trolling motor on and get the fish finder attached.

Every so often something resonates that I saw or read.
This is profound.
What's the difference between a conservationist and an environmentalist?

A conservationist can point to a place on a map.
He can describe what it wrong and suggest three solutions.
An environmentalist will tell YOU what YOU are doing wrong and try to get you to fix you.

I'm a conservationist and have been since the early 1970s when I was a boy scout that was introduced to the concept. Ever spend an entire summer camping outside so you could plant more trees?

I have. In the 1970s I did all sorts of conservationist projects along with thousands of boy scouts.
They don't do conservation anymore. Environmentalists...what a joke.

You're just now realizing the difference? How's the quail egg empire shaping up?
