The three seasons.
We're in the season of virtue where we tell the virtuous stories of how great it was 6 or 8 years ago and how virtuous we were.
Next is the season of humility aka hurricane season.
Then it's actually duck season finally.
7 months away...

^^^
Ever hunt with guys that are this ?
I ran into this crew from Georgia that invited me to participate in their planning meeting.
I had a map...
So we're in their room. They all have their phones out looking at Google earth trying to match up their notes to that map.
Here! They pointed and declared that they'd hunted "here" and had heard hundreds of mallards quacking in the woods where they pointed.
"That was me" I said..they were scouting but thought a duck call was ducks.
They were super serious about it and the pain was real when they realized that they'd been fooled.
The guys that are super serious and over-think it all reminds me of myself 40 years ago.
How I scout now is to watch the flyup.
If the ducks all head east then turn north and fly along the east side of the woods...set up on the east side.
Scouting by gunfire or listening for ducks ?
Nah.
If the ducks get up and go straight north and hug the west side of the woods set up on the west side.
Seems simple enough. It is.

The coyote killer hoodie is pretty nice...
Triggered memories of my trapline.
Not good. So I'll stow it here...
Used to catch raccoons, muskrat, and minks. It was actually good money in the early 70s.
Nothing sours the day quite like when you haul out your catch slung over the shoulder and notice all the parasites evacuating the cold carcasses.
Then you get sprayed by a Skunk and have a new nickname at school.
Ah those were the days...

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside...
Wasps are manipulating oak trees into making gauls then the wasps manipulate ants to retrieve the gauls so the wasps can breed and make nests.
An 8 year old discovered this?
Look it up

Meanwhile in Gotham City, they’re bitching about a dead harlequin seen during an outdoor episode airing on the Outdoor Channel. So a law was supposedly broken, I guess Native will press charges or try? I may post on the thread, get ready for another clue.

Paid leave is an issue?
Not really she has 8 weeks worth but can accept paid leave as a gift from others.
This is normal and she's given paid leave to others before.
So money isn't even a thing.
The chemo will start around the 15th.
Anxiety much? Yep.
People already want to donate paid leave but it's not really a problem.

Unique call it has Louisiana guts. Mine needs tuning and it's such a challenge that I gave up and challenged Theircommitted10 to tune it.
He's sat on it almost a year.

I took this young guy out at MoDuck.
He killed his first greenhead and ...oh God he mangled that poor duck trying to kill it. Was pretty ugly.
Finally I said give it to me.
He was so excited that he beat the dog to the duck.
Wasn't quite dead.
I did the twirl thing, it flapped its death flaps, and that was that.
I had pictures but that was 3 or 4 phones ago.

My last phone upon an upgrade started flashing like a strobe. Cool but thats all it'd do.
That was an galaxy s10 I think.
Not sure but I think we're up to 22 and I bet by the holidays this one shits itself too.

This Google map thing could have solved a big argument I had with a duck hunter.
About 13 years ago you could drive along the black River between Powhatan and rainy brake.
Yes there was a road but it's gone now. It hugged the river and lots of people fished along the river.
The black river floods sometimes really bad.
If you study close there's a slough where the road used to be.
The last time I traveled that road was really bad and I quit going to rainy brake.
That must've been around the time they were bitching about a new gate. That access was closed and never re-opened.
This map shows why. The river took the road...it's gone.
To get to rainy brake you have to go to Lynn on the highway.
We argued all day about this.
Drove there to prove it and couldn't even get near the gate it was so flooded.

Roger's Sporting Goods has shotshells on sale.
Mostly target loads but $99 for ten boxes is what they have in several stinky flavors.
If you think practicing with 1200 fps will help.

Quite the joke.
Our junior high school jazz band played this song and tried like hell to get it right. My friend played first seat trombone and hates this song.

Our jazz band won awards. They could play the hell out of Hawaii 5-0

Fuck I got "the letter" today.
Basically it says I have just days to comply with a court order to pick up trash the other people throw out of their cars into my yard.
Littering is illegal but it's only a $60 fine so police refuse to enforce the law.

But the city code people use a different flag and a different constitution than we do so it's completely ok to fine me $750/day for not complying.
Seems legit. Not predatory at all
