Some mallard ducklings. Pretty decent size as well. I believe there is eight of them. Speaking of that all the Broods I’ve seen this spring have been 8+ ducklings. Goslings on the other hand have been very small groups.

Sorry for the low quality picture but I was doing 60 down the gravel and hit the brakes. By time I threw it in reverse and got back there they had gone from being on the far edge to into the cattails.

Our geese seemed to have nested very early this year, but like you I mostly saw relatively small broods. They are broods not groups ;)

Although I didn't get back into town until well after they had hatched so most were pretty well along, so the coyotes would have taken their fair share by that point. So I'm a little unsure how to rate this years hatch compared to others. Definitely happened earlier than normal, the broods were smaller but older when I got back, and I didn't see a lot of goslings from second attempts.

Shortage of geese is not our issue. Weather, weather weather. Everything else is a distant second.

It’s funny because when I typed it I was going to change it but I left it to see if anybody would say something after the flight ducks thread. :fishing:

Wouldn't sweat it. Keeps it interesting between seasons. We're at that point between crying about it being over and hopeful of the upcoming blast in two weeks.
